Overview:

We're seeking a skilled Engineering Manager who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced, and innovation-driven environment. You’ll play a crucial role in driving efficiency and excellence while fostering a culture of learning and growth within the Engineering Team.

Your Main Mission
  • Recruit and build your own Engineering team.

  • Directly manage a team of Engineers (6~8). Lead by example by taking ownership, being proactive and collaborating.

  • Get into the technical details where required to coach, support and mentor the team.

  • Cooperate with other engineering teams for product roadmap implementation.

  • Lead an engineering team to ensure the deliverables are on time with high quality.

  • Nurture, grow and develop engineers in the team.

  • Take active part in delivery management, constantly improve teamwork.

  • Coach, mentor, and spread the word about our best practices inside and outside of Horizons.

Your Day-to-Day
  • Work in a team of talented individuals and be a leader for your team.

  • Daily standup practice to keep everyone aligned and supported in their role.

  • Decide your priorities and the technical direction of the team.

  • Interview candidates to identify future talents of the team.

Experience
  • Experience: 7+ years in the Software Industry, 2+ yeas as a Team Lead

  • Background: Has managed a team in a fast-paced environment

  • Achievement: Has achieved high retention in his team. Can provide 2 examples of achievements or metrics his team improved.

Skills
  • A deep understanding of software development in a team, and a track record of developing and shipping software. 

  • Strong technical skills (coding & system design), you can get hands-on with your team if needed.

  • Experience with customer facing product application.

  • Strong people management skills and team leadership and experience.

  • Experience in implementing new processes in a team.

  • Can define, implement and track team and individual KPIs.

  • Excellent communication skill and are able to influence and cooperate with people at all levels.

  • Experience working with an Agile ways, has project management skills is a plus.

  • Have strong technical experience includes: Python, ReactJS, TypeScript, SQL and NoSQL, DevOps, AWS or other Cloud platform.

Nice to have
  • Have experience in the Finance or HR industry

Soft Skills
  • You want to be part of making a difference in the remote employment space and maybe have remote work experience yourself.

  • You’re a strong team player but can also work independently.

  • You write and speak fluent English. Chinese is a +. Additional languages are a bonus.
