Mission

In your role as Senior Originator, you play a key and fundamental role for Zelestra in Germany. You are responsible for the implementation of the local business strategy by growing Zelestra’s local customer base and originating new business opportunities with Corporates, Utilities and Trading Counterparties. The role involves deal origination, deal structuring and relationship management. On top of that, you actively shape the commercial strategy for EEG Auction bidding in Germany.

As a Senior Originator, you will focus on Solar, Onshore Wind and BESS projects – to be possibly extended to other sources of renewable power production and flexibility in future.

You leverage on a deep understanding of the German energy market to drive the successful origination and execution of power purchase agreements (PPAs) and other revenue contracts for renewable energy projects in Germany.

You will be reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer Germany in a growing team of professionals as part of a close-knit team that supports each other and collaborates to achieve their goals.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate power contracts with counterparties in collaboration with stakeholders from functions across the organization (Project Development, Finance, Operations, M&A).
  • Develop and execute creative deal structures across a range of product offerings. These include conventional power purchase agreements for renewable energy, capacity and/or environmental attributes (GoO management); storage product offerings, firming, and shaping structures, and/or clean capacity offerings; and novel combinations of operational and development assets and of multiple technologies.
  • Establish relationships with corporate offtakers, trading and origination desks at public and private utilities and marketers’ procurement.
  • Drive power marketing “ideas” to definitive deliverables (financial models, term sheets, contracts) and timetables for execution.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive origination strategy aligned with the company's growth objectives.
  • Foster a collaborative and results-oriented culture that aligns with the company's global vision.
  • Ensure alignment with market trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements.
  • RFP & Proposal Development – Identify and participate in RFP opportunities and originate bilateral PPA targets outside formal RFP processes.
  • Support the Business Development/Project Development and the M&A teams by assessing the value of assets for acquisitions, leveraging financial expertise and market knowledge to inform investment decisions.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Business Administration or Engineering or related field in Origination and energy markets.
  • 7+ years of experience in German power markets (Sales/Trading/Origination). Specific experience in origination, pricing, structuring and analysis of physical and financial PPAs across multiple energy markets, customers and types of deal structures.
  • Deep knowledge of the German energy and power markets with a strong focus on renewables.
  • Fluent skills of German language.
  • Advanced English.
  • Strong willingness to teamwork and collaborate.

  • Strong customer orientation and capability to win others over.
