The Opportunity…

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Contractor Services Training Manager to play a crucial role in the development and execution of contractor training with a focus on safety, quality assurance, and operational training programs for our mission-aligned contractor network. This position will oversee initial contractor training to ensure compliance with GRID’s safety and quality standards and provide ongoing training to maintain and elevate contractor performance. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to align training with program needs, while continuously improving contractor resources and supporting the implementation of our annual contractor summit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Initial and Ongoing Training: Lead and conduct operational, safety, and quality assurance training for contractors, ensuring timely approval and integration into GRID’s contractor network. Provide periodic safety and quality training sessions to maintain compliance with established standards.
  • Quality Assurance Inspections: Perform regular quality assurance inspections of contractor work to ensure program compliance and adherence to GRID’s safety, quality, and performance standards. Identify areas for improvement and provide feedback to contractors for ongoing development.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with GRID’s workforce development, construction, and programs teams to ensure contractor training program design and curriculum align with program standards and best practices.
  • Program Improvement: Collaborate with the Contractor Services Senior Program Manager and Director to continuously improve contractor resources and address the specific needs of individual contractors.
  • Technical Support: Serve as a resource for contractors, addressing project specific questions, and offering ongoing support, to ensure successful integration into the network.
  • Summit Planning & Execution: Assist the Director of Contractor Services in planning and executing annual contractor summits, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and training requirements.
  • Training Support: Assist the training team with other training classes and programs as required, supporting the overall success of GRID’s contractor training initiatives.


What You Need To Bring To This Role...

  • Industry Experience: Extensive experience in the solar, electrical, EVSE, and/or construction industries, with a preference for residential and commercial operations.
  • Leadership & Safety Expertise: Proven experience leading installation crews in the solar industry, ensuring strict adherence to safety standards and industry best practices.
  • Cross-Departmental Project Management: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects and manage change across geographically dispersed teams.
  • Training & Management Skills: Strong capability to train, manage, and influence diverse groups of trainees across multiple locations, both domestic and international.
  • Industry Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of electrical and construction codes, OSHA regulations, and industry safety best practices.
  • Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel as needed to support training and contractor development. (roughly 50% of time will be travel)
  • Self-Starter & Team Player: Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team to achieve project goals.
  • Tech Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office, GSuite, and other office productivity tools.

It would be great if you also had...

  • Experience: 5-10 years in solar, construction, and/or electrical industry roles, with 3-5 years in field operations. Owned a RE+ business or worked as an independent contractor.
  • Certifications: NABCEP certification (preferred), OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
  • Education: Certificate, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • Training Program Experience: Prior experience developing and building contractor training programs from the ground up is highly desirable.
  • License: Solar, Electrical, or General Contractor’s license


Where you will sit and the places you may go…

This position is remote and may rarely require up to 50% out-of-town travel to regional offices and special projects such as company-wide celebrations, team building exercises, etc. Availability to work nights and weekends may very rarely be required.

GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use. In this instance, applicants must hold a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.

This is a full-time, exempt position. Salary pay commensurate with experience within the pay band ($73k- $95k annually), plus the benefits below.
