About the role
We’re looking for an Accounting Specialist to join our growing team!
What you’ll do here:
- Manage monthly, quarterly and year-end internal reporting by working closely with various departments, including other finance teams
- Prepare underwriting results and expense forecasts
- Analyze underwriting results in close cooperation with the actuarial team
- Support our various business units in tracking their workflow
- Participate in initiatives to improve financial systems and accounting processes
- Participate in the budget process for underwriting results and operating expenses
- Think critically about the controls in place and the various accounting treatments related to our operations
- Make recommendations and suggestions to management based on your expertise
- Simplify, standardize and improve controls of different work files
What you bring to the table:
- Professional accounting designation (CPA) or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- At least three to five years of relevant experience in accounting, IFRS accounting standards and finance
- Knowledge of the insurance industry
- Fast learning, agility and adaptability to change
- Discipline, autonomy and professionalism
- Strong oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interact with people at all levels of the organization, including management and external stakeholders
- For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country
