The expected salary range for this position is $58,870.00 - $73,580.00. Employees in specific high cost of labor locations in the United States (such as San Francisco, CA and Seattle, WA) may qualify for a geographic differential. Overview 

Compassion International is seeking a highly organized, detail oriented, and forward-thinking Business Support Specialist who will provide key support to our Major Gifts fundraising team. This intermediate specialist will provide a professional level of operation, analysis, research, and business administration support. This role may further assist with performing administrative and business support type duties across the Global Philanthropic Engagement (GPE) fundraising team. The specialist generally works independently in areas such as, process management, communications and change, program implementation, project management, development, data research, analysis, business intelligence, business operation, tracking, and/or information management. The incumbent may accomplish any or all of the essential functions, or other professional duties of a professional administrative nature, including recommending or making improvements to significant processes and practices. At this career level, the incumbent generally works independently on moderately complex projects or as a team member on larger projects and processes. He or she may coach other specialists.

What will you do? 

  • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion’s ministry in prayer. 

  • Acts as an advocate to raise the awareness of the needs of children. Understands Christ’s mandate to protect children. Commits to and prioritizes child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry. Abides by all behavioral expectations in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Reports any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion’s internal reporting process and appropriately supports responses to incidents if they occur. 

  • Uphold and engage in Compassion’s core Cultural Behaviors

  • Reviews business processes and identifies activities required to address the issues, including process steps and impact assessment to increase productivity and efficiency.  Prepares supporting documentation such as presentations, future state maps, and business requirements. Makes improvements or recommends improvements to processes and activities. Creates processes to aid business operations. 

  • Facilitates assignment/acknowledgement process for new business donors; and in collaboration with other departments within Compassion, organizes and executes stewardship activities determined in Corporate Relations and Foundations’ annual stewardship plan. 

  • Provides business support to Major Gifts team, including but not limited to, comprehensive donor campaign support, complex donor account management, data entry, expense management, research, special projects, and other administrative type duties. 

  • Provides business and administrative support to leadership, including but not limited to proofing/editing, presentation building, expense management, calendar management, and travel planning. Further, coordinates team meeting agendas and will be a key partner in virtual and off-site meetings, recording and summarizing notes and following up on future action items as needed.

  • May perform or support department specific duties sometimes related to other job subfamilies such as, marketing plans, data analysis, basic procurement, tours and events, basic accounting, facilities requests, and/or program development. 

  • Prepares and relays communications concerning business operations and outcomes to appropriate audiences to foster understanding and acceptance for initiatives, policies, and practices. Further, supports change integration across projects within the scope of own work. Works to identify change adoption across common audiences as needed. 

  • Trains and advises stakeholders on processes and guidelines related to the group or program projects. May liaise between assigned department and other neighbors. 

  • Provides meaningful input into the development of effective metrics for ministry operations and maintains data/metrics, dashboards, tools, and artifacts to provide up-to-date status of group projects, processes, and initiatives. 

  • Provides support and facilitates order and mailing of collateral, supplies, and stewardship reporting needs.

  • Partners with other groups when required to integrate information and processes across functions. Provides individual contributions and occasional support to various projects as assigned in support of the work of Business Support management. 

  • The incumbent may provide expertise to other professionals and support staff in their work group. 

What do you bring? 

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent education, experience, training and/or certification 

  •  3+ years experience 

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office 

  • Salesforce or other CRM software experience strongly preferred 

  • Technical fluency; ability to learn new systems quickly

  • Proactive work approach with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
