Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate outdoor adventure courses, including hiking, low ropes courses, and rock climbing, in stunning locations such as Fishkill, NY, and various sites throughout New York City.
• Ensure a secure, engaging learning atmosphere while adapting activities to address the diverse needs of students.
• Collaborate with fellow instructors in course planning and deliver high-quality instructional experiences.
• Provide mentorship and professional development to other instructors, promoting instructional excellence within the team.
• Support students' outdoor experiences, ensuring their physical and emotional safety, and facilitating team-building activities in schools and parks.
  
  

Required Skills

• Strong commitment to educational equity for BIPOC youth and a solid understanding of anti-racist practices.
• Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds over uneven terrain for extended periods.
• Experience in belaying assistance to guarantee climber safety on both indoor and outdoor walls.
• Proficiency in multitasking and managing the behavioral needs of individuals and groups effectively.
• Comfort with outdoor work in various weather conditions and a willingness to support students with varying levels of camping experience.
  
  

Qualifications

• A passion for working with young people and enhancing their experiences through outdoor adventures.
• While experience in outdoor adventure courses is advantageous, a strong desire to engage with youth is essential.
• Must be at least 18 years of age and possess the ability to obtain necessary outdoor certifications upon employment.
• Clearance through a NYC Department of Education Background Check is required.

Compensation And Benefits

• This is a seasonal contract role that includes three (3) sick days.
