Job description

We are recruiting for a Framework Supplier Development Manager (FSDM) to join our growing Water Sector, supporting 2 key Frameworks (United Utilities and Northumbrian Water) on an initial 9-month maternity cover basis

This is a home-based role with regular travel to project and supplier offices as required.

Costain have won extensive work across the water sector this year to support the AMP 8 investment cycle. We have been appointed by Northumbrian Water to the Living Water Enterprise to help shape and deliver its strategic infrastructure upgrade programme with contracts valued up to c.£670m to Costain over 15 years and by United Utilities as one of 7 partners to deliver £3bn of projects in the Asset Management Period 8 (AMP8) between 2025 – 2030.

The role of the FSDM is to contribute to the development and deployment of the Framework strategy for P&SC. Operating within the Framework management team, and with links to the sector, division & group supply chain management function, working closely with the Framework Operational leads, Commercial team and any other members of the Framework team, you will be responsible for ensuring that the Procurement and Supply Chain strategy of Costain is deployed within the Framework.

Key Responsibilities

Implement a robust onboarding methodology that captures the key deliverables around SHE, Social Value and Environment, Sustainability and Governance, leading the team to deliver a cross-functional program in the identification and qualification of new suppliers

Provide an induction to all our suppliers to ensure they are aware of the Costain Values and Behaviours

Ensure that all suppliers onboarded to the Framework maintain their relevant accreditations

Work with Central Procurement to establish a Supplier Relationship Management program within the Framework

Work closely with the Category Managers to ensure that the Framework is represented in discussions with their key suppliers

Liaise with the management team to understand future projects so that necessary actions can be taken to ensure that a suitable supply chain is design and onboarded in anticipation of a physical requirement

Support the drive towards ESG, including but not limited to SME development, social value creation, zero carbon solutions, promoting safety

About You

CIPS qualified

Significant experience of working in a similar level role

A clear leader with excellent communication skills able to interact at all levels

Visible enthusiasm for driving improvement in best practice

Ability to demonstrate a level of emotional intelligence, capable of engaging with a wide-ranging stakeholder group

Extensive knowledge of supply chain management and procurement

Experience of collaborative working and implementing innovation

Full driving licence
