Job description



Purpose

As a Global Sourcing Manager, you will develop and maintain a leading-edge global sourcing strategy and establish an appropriate supply base with clear spend governance for assigned Capital Equipment-related categories. You will collaborate closely with business, functional, and regional stakeholders, particularly in Rome, working with one italian buyer there, to understand their needs and requirements. A significant part of your role will involve managing external suppliers, particularly in Spain and the Netherlands. You will work with regional strategic sourcing managers to implement global sourcing strategies for external manufacturers and suppliers to the BVI Rome plant. Additionally, you will be responsible for key strategic supplier management, including risk management, performance, relationship building, value plan delivery, and supplier development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, communicate, and implement global sourcing strategies that align with regional requirements and market conditions
  • Ensure sourcing strategies generate long-term savings, value streams, and innovation opportunities
  • Lead supplier selection processes, including RFx development, proposal evaluation, and stakeholder approval
  • Negotiate and contract with suppliers, ensuring agreements meet global business needs
  • Coordinate communication of the supply base to end users post-negotiation and contracting
  • Manage global stakeholder relationships for assigned categories
  • Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes, focusing on quality, delivery, and cost
  • Analyze spend and contract renewals to identify cost savings opportunities
  • Facilitate project meetings to ensure successful implementation of new and existing products/services
  • Manage Contract Manufacturing/OEM expense budgets and top-spend supplier relationships
  • Travel internationally for 15-25% of the time to interact with suppliers

Qualification

  • Business fluency in English and Italian (ability to read technical reports)
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Capital and EMS category strategy and execution, preferably in the Medical Device industry with strong strategic sourcing experience, including Market Analysis, RFx, and Source-to-Pay
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Supply Chain
  • High-level understanding of ISO 13485, ROHS, IEC60601, EU MDR, and other regulatory processes
  • Proven experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry, with understanding sourcing practices and supplier landscape (experience in commoditized and specialty electronics is a plus)
  • Strong supplier management and negotiation skills with a drive for cost-saving initiatives
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel, for data organization and evaluation
  • Ability to travel within the EU without visa restrictions
  • Flexible with working hours to accommodate a supervisor based in the US; able to manage occasional off-hours meetings and communication
  • Strong leadership skills, demonstrating independence and initiative without needing constant direction, ability to take ownership of projects and drive them to completion
