The Director of Editorial drives timely and consistent coverage of industry news, thought leadership, and top-of-funnel content oriented to our target audience’s key care-abouts. We are looking for a marketing leader with a journalist’s mindset to drive our owned media strategy, helping ensure Workiva has an active voice in the market with clear points of view and valuable insights.
As a key leader on the Content Marketing team, you and your team will play a pivotal role in strengthening Workiva’s credibility and domain authority through engaging, high-value content that drives brand awareness and affinity. This role is ideal for an experienced content marketer eager to make an impact in a global, fast-paced, and highly matrixed organization.
What You’ll Do
Lead a team of writers, producers, and marketers responsible for attracting and building our audience across Workiva’s owned media channels, including (but not limited to) our blog, podcast, newsletters, and social
Drive the global editorial planning process and own our monthly content calendar, working in close partnership with External Affairs
Brainstorm, develop, and edit content with key collaborators across industry principal, communications, and product marketing teams
Define and socialize brand-level themes and perspectives that can feed our downstream pipeline-driving efforts
Review marquee assets to ensure a strong point of view, messaging consistency, content quality, and strategic alignment
Set goals, track performance, and report on content performance
Make data-driven content decisions based on company priorities, performance insights, market trends, and audience engagement
Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging tools (like AI) to enhance our content marketing efficiency and impact
What You’ll Need
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in Journalism, English, Communications, or a related field
10+ years of editorial, content marketing, or closely related experience
Experience in the B2B technology industry
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of direct people management experience
Experience developing content for financial and Office of the CFO audiences
Experience leading global content development and distribution, and for breakthrough in new markets (geos, industries)
Strong research, interviewing, storytelling and pitching skills, and ability to coach others to do the same
Experience developing story lines and content from industry research and data
Demonstrated success in collaborating and influencing cross-functional teams across a global SaaS organization
Strategic mindset with the ability to make informed decisions based on data analysis and reporting
Adept at managing multiple priorities, diverse stakeholders, and tight deadlines
Well-documented and ordered portfolio of writing samples
Travel Requirements & Working Conditions
20% travel for company events and internal meetings
Reliable internet access for any period of time working remotely and not in a Workiva office
How You’ll Be Rewarded
✅ Salary range in the US: $154,000.00 - $250,000.00✅ A discretionary bonus typically paid annually
✅ Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire
