Job description

We are looking for an ambitious editorial team lead, with a passion for medical affairs, to provide scientific and strategic direction for a fast-paced vaccine account.

The role

You’ll have the exciting opportunity to make a valuable impact by providing editorial leadership and scientific expertise across a variety of medical affairs projects. From crafting compelling medical messaging to developing engaging internal training content, your expertise will help shape critical communications that drive scientific understanding and impact. This position is ideal for existing editorial team leads who are looking to apply their skills in a new setting on a varied account, or for experienced medical writers ready to take the next step in their career and transition to account leadership.

If you’re looking to take on more responsibility, influence strategy and lead projects within a fast-paced, collaborative environment, this role is the perfect platform with which to showcase your talents and grow as a leader.

Key responsibilities

  • Scientific leadership of a medical affairs and internal training account with opportunity for growth
  • Providing clients with a high level of scientific, strategic and creative expertise across a range of projects that cover medical messaging and strategy, alongside support for internal training and capabilities
  • Establishing and building positive long-term relationships with client teams and medical experts
  • Building collaborative partnerships with commercial counterparts and all other internal teams
  • Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of client products and strategy, as well as the wider therapy area
  • Leadership and mentoring of editorial team members
  • Review of content developed by other team members to ensure alignment with strategy, a cohesive narrative and scientific accuracy
  • Managing editorial capacity planning for the account, anticipating peaks in workload to ensure adequate resourcing
  • Working with the commercial lead to understand brand strategy and client needs, contributing to account planning and the commercial success of the account
  • Supporting business development activities through relationship building and the organic growth of accounts

What you’ll need

  • Previous agency experience leading or supporting a medical affairs account
  • A strong academic background in a life sciences subject
  • Excellent storytelling abilities – a creative thinker who enjoys finding new ways to communicate client data and scientific concepts
  • Confidence leading meetings and presentations, both internally and externally
  • A desire to contribute to discussions with clients on their plans and offer fresh approaches
  • Confidence to steer the client on the basis of our expertise
  • Strong team leadership and mentoring skills
  • Calm under pressure, with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent editorial review skills, with the ability to provide constructive and encouraging feedback to team members on their work
