This role will play a critical leadership role ensuring Merative stays in compliance with GAAP. This role will collaborate with other accounting team members and partner with business team constituents to provide accounting input and guidance for business transactions. The ideal candidate will be a motivated professional with extensive accounting technical knowledge, and strong communication skills with an ability to interact with all levels of management throughout the company. The role will provide great opportunities for growth and advancement.

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide technical accounting leadership while ensuring accounting policies are aligned with GAAP 
  • Provide subject matter expertise and leadership in key areas such as:
    • Revenue (ASC 606) 
    • Lease accounting (ASC 842) 
    • Internally Developed Software (ASC 350) 
    • Goodwill (ASC 850) and Long-lived assets (ASC 360) 
  • Proven ability to effectively collaborate with external auditors and consultants 
  • Proven ability to research new and pending accounting pronouncements, assess company impact, and implement policy and procedures for compliance 
  • Coordinate financial statement draft, effectively collaborating with team members to compile and confirm financial inputs 
  • Design and prepare complex, ad-hoc financial reports needed by senior management, investors, and audit committee 
  • Effectively collaborate with internal stakeholders, including FP&A, Sales, and Business Units to advise on complex transactions and accounting treatment 
  • Support Assistant Controller to complete complex activity (e.g., functional currency translation) and achieve operational accounting close timelines and metrics 
  • Effectively collaborate with Treasury, Tax, and FP&A for internal and external financial reporting 
  • Provide statutory reporting support for multiple countries working closing with Assistant Controller and Statutory Accountant 
  • Oversee internal control monitoring and reporting processes 
  • Manage 2 – 3 accountants while providing technical guidance and skill development 
     

The ideal candidate will possess: 

  • Extensive technical accounting knowledge (US GAAP expertise and IFRS familiarity) 
  • CPA with public accounting experience required
  • Advanced revenue recognition knowledge and relevant experience 
  • ERP experience (Oracle preferred) and advanced Excel skills 
  • Track record of collaborating with internal stakeholders and external partners  
  • Flexibility and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment 
  • 5-10+ years of relevant accounting experience 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
