The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accounting Manager to join our dynamic finance team. In this critical role, you will be at the forefront of managing our accounting operations while providing strategic financial insights that support our company’s growth and long-term success. You will not only safeguard the company’s financial health but will also drive operational efficiency, optimize accounting processes, and collaborate directly with leadership to shape key financial strategies. Key Responsibilities:
- Own and drive end-to-end accounting operations, including general ledger management, transaction recording, and the accurate preparation of monthly financial statements.
- Lead and take full ownership of the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring data completeness, accuracy, and timely reporting.
- Oversee tax-related activities, including managing Canadian and US corporate tax compliance, navigating cross-border tax regulations, and driving SR&ED tax credit claims to completion.
- Take charge of treasury functions, including managing cash flow forecasting, overseeing bank reconciliations, and optimizing working capital to ensure financial stability.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, leading the audit process and ensuring smooth coordination and compliance.
- Develop, implement, and strengthen internal controls, ensuring they align with best practices and safeguard the company’s financial assets.
- Collaborate with FP&A teams to lead the provision of actionable financial insights, supporting budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making across the organization.
- Provide backup support to the Finance Operations Manager across billing, AP, AR, and payroll functions, ensuring continuity in financial operations as needed.
- Drive continuous improvements and automation within the accounting function, identifying opportunities to optimize workflows, increase efficiency, and scale processes effectively.
- Provide leadership in offering actionable financial recommendations to the executive team, driving business strategy and decision-making.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operational teams to ensure financial processes and insights align with the company’s overall goals and strategy.
What You Will Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent designation preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance operations, with specific experience in tech/SaaS, start-up, or scale-up environments.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and tax regulations (both Canadian and US).Proven experience in managing accounting functions end-to-end, from day-to-day operations to high-level strategic input.
- Hands-on experience with financial systems and tools (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Excel/Google Sheets) and the ability to optimize workflows and implement automation solutions.
- A customer-centric mindset, with the ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive problem-solving skills, with a focus on driving improvements and optimizing processes for scale.
- A passion for contributing to a high-growth company, with the ability to work both hands-on and at a strategic level.
