Job description

Job Description:

The IT Business Operations Intern will work closely with the Director of IT Business Operations to support initiatives aimed at optimizing software usage and reducing costs across the organization. The intern will be assigned a specific project and contribute to multiple initiatives throughout their tenure. This position provides an opportunity to develop hands-on experience in IT asset management, financial analysis, and enterprise software strategy. The IT Business Operations Intern will report to the Director of IT Business Operations and collaborate with various IT and business teams to ensure effective software tracking, consolidation, and cost-saving strategies.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Research and track all software being used across the organization.
  • Analyze software usage and identify cost-saving opportunities through consolidation.
  • Determine which software can be eliminated due to redundancy.
  • Assist in the development of a centralized software inventory.
  • Collaborate with IT and business teams to assess software needs and dependencies.
  • Provide recommendations for enterprise-wide software opportunities.
  • Document findings and present cost-benefit analyses to IT leadership.

Position Requirements:

  • Must be a current college junior or senior pursuing a degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must have access to a stable internet connection and a suitable remote working environment.

Position Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation abilities.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
  • Basic understanding of IT asset management, software licensing, and procurement processes.
  • Basic understanding of IT asset management and software lifecycle principles.
  • Familiarity with database management and reporting tools

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university as a junior or senior.

Experience:

  • Coursework or academic projects related to IT asset management, business operations, data analysis, or financial analysis.
  • Internship, part-time job, or volunteer experience in IT, finance, business operations, or a related field is a plus.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or similar tools for data organization and analysis.

Certifications or Licensure:

  • N/A

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with research and data collection methodologies.
  • Strong presentation and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply new technology quickly.
  • Basic understanding of budgeting or cost analysis principles

Working Conditions:

  • Fully remote position, must be based in the U.S.
  • Requires a reliable internet connection and the ability to work 20 hours per week.
