CivicActions is seeking an experienced and inspiring Director of People to lead our talent strategy and expand upon an exceptional employee experience. As a member of our leadership team, you will play a critical role in scaling our organization and driving our mission to help the government deliver better public services through open technology and design. 

The Director of People Operations is a hands-on leader responsible for managing all aspects of people operations, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, and compliance. This role requires a proactive approach to handling day-to-day tasks and ensuring seamless execution of people operations processes, contributing directly to the organization’s mission of delivering better public services through open technology and design.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Champion our people: Foster a culture of growth, collaboration, and transparency where every team member feels valued and supported.
  • Drive talent acquisition: Develop and execute a comprehensive talent acquisition strategy to attract and retain top talent in the gov tech space.
  • Develop and empower: Implement robust performance management, career development, and learning programs to maximize individual and team potential.
  • Optimize operations: Streamline people operations, including onboarding, compensation, and benefits, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
  • Shape the future: Partner with leadership to forecast workforce needs, manage talent planning, and navigate organizational change.
  • Be a thought leader: Contribute to the development and dissemination of best practices in human capital management, particularly within the gov tech domain.

YOUR FIRST 90 DAYS

  • Onboarding: Learn the tools; meet and build relationships with the team; understand and immerse yourself into CivicActions culture
  • Projects: Annual review season iterations; Engagement Survey Action Committee; Benefits administration process iteration; Career Pathing 
  • Learn By Doing: Shadow responsibilities to learn the ins and outs of our processes and tools while hitting the ground running and contributing to these processes.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

  • 10+ years of People Operations Management experience (3+ years at a professional services firm)
  • Senior Certified Professional in Human Resources Management (SHRM-SCP)
  • Government Technology Industry
  • Remote Environment People Management
  • Proficiency in tools such as Google Suite, Slack, Zoom, Rippling, Greenhouse, CultureAmp, and Atlassian Tools (i.e. Jira, Confluence)

Salary Range

$165,000 - $185,000 USD per year

Location

We are a completely remote team within the United States. We ask that you have a dedicated workspace and fast internet.
