The Random House Children’s Books art team is seeking a highly motivated, experienced individual with project management and design skills to support our growing Disney licensed publishing program. The Senior Designer will be part of the Disney licensed publishing team that creates multiple print- ready formats including Novelty Books, Board Books, Picture Books, Little Golden Books and more. For this position, we’d like the candidate to have Young Adult and Middle Grade design experience. In this fast-paced, collaborative environment, the Senior Designer must be highly organized, collaborative, and solution and process-oriented.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Ability to refine design concepts and maintain brand and licensing consistency, keep projects on schedule, to high quality standards in multiple formats.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and develop design solutions that align with Disney license guidelines and objectives.
- Communicate effectively with the editorial and production teams as well as the Disney licensor external partners to assure seamless workflow and meet expectations.
- Self-manage workload to meet deadlines and prioritize accordingly.

- 7-10 years of design and project management experience in publishing or in-house corporate graphic design environment.
- Strong design skills with a focus on typography, color theory, and book design for illustrated books and novel formats, including styles sheets and working with tagged copy.
- Highly proficient in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.) and other relevant design tools as applied to print publishing.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a strong knowledge of pre-press, 1-color and 4-color printing process, and PDF workflow.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Layout design expertise with an emphasis in print publishing
- Proficient in the use of style sheets for design and text heavy novel formats.
- Highly organized, able to handle multiple tasks, prioritize and manage time efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail, quality and process.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively, with sensitivity and self- awareness, in large group setting.
This position is open to remote candidates.
The salary for this position is $73,500. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
