About the Role
The Director, Commercial Strategy will be a critical member of the Commercial Strategy team in (1) synthesizing relevant market trends, the competitive landscape, and the voice of the customer to (2) identify, scope, recommend, and deploy approaches that drive Growth or impact margin for Cityblock.
The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, diving deep into the landscape across payers, providers, and organizations in the healthcare ecosystem to understand market trends and relevant insights that impact Cityblock’s business. They thrive in a dynamic environment and are able to define strategy based on such insights, leveraging a variety of skills including financial modeling and analysis, storytelling, cross-functional stakeholder engagement, project management, business process development, and project management. Relevant backgrounds include experience specifically with payers and providers across venture capital, investment banking, private equity, management consulting, or in corporate development at a payor or provider organization.
Responsibilities:
This position will be responsible for driving Cityblock’s commercial strategy, including synthesizing market trends and the voice of the customer to develop and implement strategies that support growth and/or margin improvement for Cityblock. This role will be a critical owner to drive the expansion of our current solution offerings as well as the development of new ones through build, buy, partner assessments as well as the execution of such strategies. Particular focus areas may include:
Strengthening Cityblock’s Core Model
Evaluating and developing a roadmap to expand into adjacent markets and/or populations
Developing new capabilities to support growth or margin enhancement opportunities
Opportunistic M&A to support growth or margin goals
This individual will own ideation to implementation across such initiatives, collaborating with Growth, Partner Success, Policy, Clinical, Operations, Finance, Actuary, Product, Health Economics, and other key cross-functional partners.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
7+ years of experience in the healthcare industry, preferably in venture capital, investment banking, private equity, or corporate development with a focus in the healthcare space (particularly with Medicaid or Duals).
Strong experience in financial analysis, strategy, executive communication and story-lining.
Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to build relationships, develop a cohesive business case, and align internal and external stakeholders.
Strong working understanding of the healthcare market and policy landscape, especially in Medicaid, Dual Eligibles, and the value-based care landscape among payers and providers. Operator experience in the space is a plus.
Project/process management skills and success in a dynamic environment: rigorous, energetic, agile, and flexible
Exceptional organizational, communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Experience in rigorous quantitative and qualitative analysis, likely demonstrated through management consulting, operational expertise or finance.
Strong working understanding of the healthcare market and policy landscape, especially in Medicaid, Dual Eligibles, and the value-based care landscape among payers and providers.
Willing to travel as needed (from 0% to 25% on week-by-week variable basis) to perform essential duties.

This role is eligible for health insurance, life insurance, retirement benefits, participation in the company’s equity program, paid time off, including vacation and sick leave. The actual offer will be at the company’s sole discretion and determined by relevant business considerations, including the final candidate’s qualifications, years of experience, skillset, and geographic location. The expected salary range for this position is:
$135,000 - $185,000
