Compensation Range

Annual Salary: $134,000.00 - $159,500.00 (Amount based on relevant experience, skills, and competencies.)

About This Job

The main purpose of this job is to act as the thought leader for our payments group to target and market the bank to the Commercial Construction Industry through a variety of resources currently available

Essential Functions

  • Authorize and publish industry white papers on driving efficiencies, customer experience, and digitization of paper payments within the commercial construction industry through the banks digital social media platform

  • Lead the charge with both national and regional conference presentations and panel discussion participation

  • Lead the banks construction payments solution products to targeted companies in designated sales territories. These companies will typically have no established relationship with the institution prior to contact.

  • Create and maintain regularly used documentation such as FAQs on the commercial constructions industry and an overcoming objections checklist for the account executive team

  • Build out the digital marketing blueprint for the commercial construction market and commercial constructions solution needs

  • Act as the subject matter expert and assist account executives on both direct and indirect client sales calls and sales efforts

  • Lead and moderate monthly commercial construction call to include account executives and various other areas of the bank to educate, overcome objections, and highlight positive activity and milestones achieved by various participants

  • Advise and assist senior leadership on various business development goals within the commercial construction payments arena

  • Identify and sell additional users and functions of the commercial card products

  • Travel to various domestic geographic areas on a regular and routine basis in order to assist all efforts to build the commercial constructions business and footprint

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Working knowledge of typical workflow and practices of the contracting industry across multiple disciplines, including knowledge of best practices

  • Strong understanding of contracting business processes and concepts that result in payments to and from contracting organizations clients, suppliers, services providers and sub-contracting entities

  • Ability to partner and present to executive level positions

  • Executive level network of contacts and acquaintances within the contracting sector

  • Working knowledge of the construction sector marketplace across multiple disciplines and geographic regions

  • Knowledge and skill set to act as the construction sector market leader to include providing actionable details to the marketing team including identifying the decision-making stakeholders and developing the appropriate sales strategies and approach

  • Working knowledge of the main commercial construction ERP systems and understand how the banks payments systems can interface through file transfers, API's, etc.

  • Ability to work with clients by identifying company goals/initiatives and move the sale though the sales cycle

  • Working knowledge of Salesforce.com

  • Ability to use social media such as LinkedIn

  • Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license and meet Commerce Bank’s driving record criteria; ongoing employment may be contingent upon meeting all driving requirements

  • Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Inquisitive, agile, and strong team player with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values

  • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook  

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required

  • 5+ years Business Development experience, or a related experience within Treasury Services required

The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for any applicable differentials (geographic, bilingual, or shift) that could be associated with the position or where it is filled. At Commerce, compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each situation. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay is $134,000 to $159,500 annually. This position will be eligible for additional compensation through performance-based incentive plan(s) that will correspond to meeting performance goals.
