Senior Estimator

Salary: $1600 - $1700 USD per month

Summary Description

The Senior Roofing Estimator is responsible for managing all aspects of job costing, budgeting and profitability management processes for roofing projects, from proposal through final analysis. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, this role collaborates with the sales, permitting and roofing operations teams to support profitable growth and project success. With growth of the company, this role is expected to evolve into a supervisory role, overseeing junior estimators.

Responsibilities

• Drive the development, implementation and improvement in Bison’s software, systems, models, processes and

policies related to roof project estimation and profit assurance

• Estimate materials, labor and other costs related to residential and commercial roofing projects

• Estimate measurements and take off from bid set of drawings when purchased measurement reports are not

available, such as for new construction and additions

• Clarify scope of work with Customer, Bison Sales Rep, and other internal team members, and with new construction,

additions and redesigns, communicate directly as needed with the general contractor to confirm scope of work.

• For more complex projects lead the preparation of customized proposals

• Provide direction regarding what photos and other site survey information is needed for estimation

• Set budgets for accepted contracts; support change orders to maintain acceptable job profitability

• Analyze project profitability in comparison with budget and determine sources of variances

• Maintain records for material and labor unit pricing and other job estimation assumptions

• Maintain and update as needed the roofing costing models with effective version control and change review

• Maintain and update the job estimation tools and proposal templates used by the sales team

• Provide training for sales and other team members on topics related to good proposal and contract development,

including guidance to leadership on estimation best practices

• Support leadership with other profitability analyses and publish performance metrics

• Ensure that the various estimation support processes perform within service level expectations

• Maintain excellent communication and high level of engagement with the sales and operations teams, enabling Bison

to consistently be responsive to and supportive of internal and external customers

Requirements

• 5+ years’ experience in “retail” roof replacement businesses with roles related to the intended job estimator scope of

duties required, with South Florida experience preferred

• Additional experience with roofing sales, operations, construction management, purchasing or other roles is very

desirable; roofing insurance claims support is a plus; and some finance or accounting experience is a plus

• Very strong Excel skills

• Experience using and implementing roofing estimation software, such as Bluebeam, is preferred

• Excellent professional English verbal and written communication skills

• Demonstrated ability to produce proposals that are clear, clean, concise, and well organized

• Experience developing and improving processes, templates, checklists, and other documents and tools
