Position Overview:

SHR Consulting Group is seeking a Director of Finance who will be responsible for overseeing the financial strategy and planning of the company’s government contracts and will support overseeing execution of strategy and budgets in coordination with Program Operations. This role will focus on developing and managing program budgets for in-flight programs as well as new programs, tracking expenditures, and ensuring target profit margins are met at both the program and corporate levels. The Director of Finance will work closely with program managers to provide financial insights that drive sound operational decisions.

 

 

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

Strategic Support

 

  • Provide data and thought leadership to the executive team to drive strategic financial business decisions.
  • Provide data analysis and insights to support decision-making.

 

Financial Oversight & Compliance

 

  • Track expenditures, indirect costs, and cost allocations to ensure efficiency and profitability.
  • Ensure compliance with federal contracting financial regulations, including DCAA (Defense Contract Audit Agency) audits.
  • Monitor and enforce internal financial controls to mitigate risks and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to executive leadership, stakeholders, and government agencies as required.

 

Budgeting & Financial Planning

 

  • Develop and maintain detailed budgets for all programs, ensuring alignment with contract requirements.
  • Monitor financial performance against budgets, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions.
  • Prepare financial forecasts and cost estimates to support short-term and long-term business planning.

 

Operational Support & Decision Making

 

  • Provide financial guidance to program managers to optimize resource allocation and cost efficiency.
  • Support contract modifications, cost adjustments, and negotiations with government agencies in collaboration with Contracts Specialist.
  • Lead process improvements to enhance financial operations, reporting, and compliance.

 

Additional Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Contract Pricing & Bid Development:
  • Support the development of pricing strategies and cost models for new government contract proposals.
  • Conduct financial analysis to determine competitive pricing strategy.
  • Collaborate with proposal teams, business development, and contract managers to support accurate and compliant cost proposals.
  • Provide risk assessment on pricing strategies.

 

 

Skill Requirements:

  • Excel Expertise: High degree of expertise and advanced skills using Excel.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong ability to analyze complex data and provide insights.
  • Interpersonal & Leadership Skills: Proven ability to collaborate across teams and influence decision-making.
  • Cross-Functional Experience: Ability to work with diverse teams and translate business needs into solutions.
  • Adaptability & Discretion: High level of confidentiality, flexibility, and proactive thinking.

 

 

 

Education:

 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting related discipline required.

 

 

Experience:

 

  • Minimum of 10+ years of accounting and financial leadership experience.
  • Must have supervisory experience. 
  • Experience in the federal contracting industry is highly preferred. 
  • Experience directly supporting federal government customers is preferred.
