THE ROLE:

  • Pay Range: $164k - $190k

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE    

Director Consumer Insights works closely with Marketing and other key cross functionals to drive consumer driven business decisions. Someone successful in this role will be grounded in food and beverage CPG consumer insights fundamentals on the client side. This role will be focused on understanding the consumer, competitive intelligence, foresight, product testing best practices, innovation, renovation and communication. The Director of Consumer Insights will act as an individual contributor responsible for creating, managing and communicating business insights gained by both ad hoc pieces of research as well as synthesizing data from multiple sources. This person will also act as an influential business partner with a ‘seat at the table’ for key strategic and planning meetings. This position will sit within the Generous Brands Marketing Team and will be remote, with collaboration sessions in Bakersfield, Rancho Cucamonga, Los Angeles, or Chicago on an as-needed basis.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR   

  • The job requirements include, but are not limited to the following:

        Leadership: Drive business decisions with call-to-action recommendations that drive growth--and comfort/capability to lead cross functional discussions

        Master Storyteller: Inspires marketing to action through clear, concise and compelling forms of communication

        Functional Technical Expert: Be well versed in both traditional and emerging market research methodologies and partners, with clear understanding on where/how to deploy to answer key business questions 

        Foresight: Drive the culture of foresight within the org and anticipate both short- and long-term trends to influence decisions today

        Prioritization: Understands that every question shouldn’t be answered, only the most strategically important.  Prioritizes resources accordingly and aligns org. to plan 

        Project Manager: Ability to lead projects with multiple stakeholders, complex inputs, and time sensitive deadlines; effectively manages workload by prioritizing and multi-tasking.  Demonstrates a sense of urgency to drive impact


 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Masters preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years of consumer insights experience on either client or supplier side, with at least 5 years at client-side food or beverage CPG
  • A deep understanding and application of Nielsen/IRI POS and panel data, and other syndicated data 
  • A deep understanding and application of both qualitative and quantitative research methods 
  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and team working skills
  • Innovation research experience from leveraging foundational work to identify whitespace, to ideation, concept/bundle optimization, graphics, in store and post launch

Preferred Qualifications:    

  • Ability to pull data directly from Unify/Circana/SPINS/Nielsen
  • Negotiating contracts with syndicated partners like Circana/Others 
  • Sensory background 

 

Physical Demands:    

  • Occasional travel to Bakersfield and Rancho Cucamonga for internal meetings, and Los Angeles/Chicago/Other for occasional in person consumer work 

 

HOURS & WORKDAYS:

 

  • 9:00am-5:00pm Monday through Friday, when business require before/after hours will be mandatory
