Clinical Specialist - Special Projects

Under the general supervision of the Director of Children’s Initiatives, the Clinical Specialist – Special Projects is responsible for the coordination and oversight of children’s special projects for the Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides Oversight of Children’s Special Projects which includes the following: Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Infant Mental Health, Early Childhood, Youth in Transition, Core Competencies, Children’s Mental Health Lecture Series, CAFAS, PECFAS, DECA, MichiCANS, and other related projects.  
• Provides coordination and oversight of children’s special projects.
• Supports the infrastructure of clinical practice standards.
• Oversees the sustainability of Evidenced Based Practices (EBP), Promising Practices and Best Practices.
• Convenes and facilitates workgroups regarding Evidence Based Practice (EBP), Promising Practices and Best Practices.  
• Assists the EBP Implementation Coordinator with attending cohort meetings/conferences and submitting applications.
• Convenes stakeholders to design, develop, and implement children’s projects/services.
• Collaborates with DWIHN departments to ensure professional development of Child Mental Health Professions.
• Provides assessments of organizational and Systems of Care training needs.  
• Participates in outreach community events.
• Oversees alignment of training with the organization and Systems of Care strategic goals. 
• Oversees youth and young adult programs and services. 
• Provides oversight for trainers, consultants and coordinators which includes review of training materials from a variety of vendors.
• Creates and selects course content and material for training sessions. 
• Partners with evaluators to assess the effectiveness of training programs and instructors.  
• Participates with DWIHN workgroups and task force as a representative of the Children’s Initiatives Team and the Wayne County Systems of Care (SOC).  
• Participates with statewide workgroups as a representative of the Children’s Initiatives Team and the Wayne County Systems of Care (SOC).  
• Provides required training and presentations on behalf of the Children’s Initiatives Team and the Wayne County Systems of Care (SOC).  
• Assists DWIHN with NCQA accreditation.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of documents / regulations that govern the provision of mental health services, e.g., Medicaid Manual Mental Health and Substance Abuse Chapter III, State Plan for Medicaid, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Quality Plan, BBA requirements and the Mental Health Code.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

A Master’s Degree from a recognized college or university in the Human Services, the Social Services, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

• Three (3) years of professional experience providing clinical/behavioral health support for children, youth, and families in a behavioral healthcare or mental health setting.

REQUIRED LICENSE(S).

A Valid State of Michigan clinical licensure:  LMSW, LMHC, LPC, LLP or PhD. 

A limited license will be accepted.

 A valid State of Michigan Driver’s License with a safe and acceptable driving record.

 WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is usually performed in an office setting but requires the employee to drive to different sites throughout Wayne County and the State of Michigan.  This position can work remotely with supervisory approval.  Currently this position is primarily a hybrid position.
