Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Personal Lines Underwriting Manager to lead a team of underwriters and drive profitable growth. This remote role requires an exceptional leader with strong technical underwriting acumen and underwriting operations. As an integral part of our organization, you will collaborate closely with senior leadership to refine underwriting practices, foster team development, develop and execute underwriting process, and build strong relationships with key stakeholders.
What You Will Do As An Underwriting Manager
You will lead a team of market-facing underwriters, managing, guiding, and mentoring the team to enhance their technical and professional skills while fostering an engaged and collaborative learning environment.
Provide guidance to underwriters to ensure quality underwriting decisions are consistent with company policies, and regulations.
Oversee aspects of team management, including setting and monitoring performance standards, conducting evaluations, and making compensation and promotion recommendations.
Maintain an in-depth understanding of State guidelines and State-specific forms.
Contribute to organizational goals by bringing innovative ideas to improve current processes and procedures.
Ensure adherence to quality assurance processes to maintain the integrity of business operations and compliance with the departmental guidelines and standards while developing team training, fostering professional development, and providing mentorship.
Demonstrate advanced underwriting expertise, effectively addressing complex underwriting escalations while staying informed on industry trends
Recommend underwriting philosophies and guidelines to support risk assessment and section strategies
Use research and analysis to develop practical underwriting solutions that are consistent with organizational objectives
Enforce best practices and ensure team compliance with company policies, procedures, and federal, state, and DOI regulations.
Build and maintain strong agency relationships
Participate in special projects, committees, and initiatives to shape underwriting direction. In conjunction with underwriting senior leadership, conduct ongoing analysis and performance of portfolio, making recommendations and implementing action plans as outlined.
What Will You Bring As An Underwriting Manager
8+ years of underwriting experience, with a strong background in Personal underwriting. Experience in Texas is a plus
3+ years of leadership experience
Proficiency in leveraging technology to deliver results and collaborating with IT teams on enhancements and project implantations.
Experience with BriteCore (preferred but not required)
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS office products
Ability to collaborate as a team player with a focus on achieving and exceeding departmental objectives.
Organizational, self-motivation, and problem-solving skills, capable of managing complex situations professionally.
Strong customer service skills, emphasizing courtesy, professionalism, and effective communication.
Proficient oral and written communication skills
Effectively manage high-stress situations with expertise.
Able to leverage senior leadership internally and externally to resolve customer issues and unlock opportunities
Capable of communicating ideas to executive audiences
Ability to make formal presentations
Perform other duties as assigned

What You Will Get As A Porch Group Team Member
Pay Range*: $106,500.00 - $149,100.00 annually
*Please know your actual pay at Porch will reflect a number of factors among which are your work experience and skillsets, job-related knowledge, alignment with market and our Porch employees, as well as your geographic location.
