Assistant Vice President/Senior Underwriter- Remote

Founded in 1965, Vikco Insurance Services LLC (“Vikco”), a subsidiary of K2 Insurance Services, LLC, is a dynamic and growing Managing General Underwriter offering specialty commercial insurance programs nationally.  As a leading program administrator Vikco continues to bring new programs to market focused on the needs of our distribution and capital partners. 

Vikco is seeking a full time Assistant Vice President/Senior Underwriter to join its team.

Job Summary:

The primary goal of the AVP, Senior Underwriter, is to effectively assess and evaluate risk to support the growth and profitability of the Business Unit. Analysis of submissions, assessing risk, and applying appropriate terms and conditions. Manage relationships with brokers and internal/external stakeholders. Generate profit in accordance with Business Unit goals. The position will include ownership of 2-3 key business functions to support ongoing processes. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather & assess risk information provided in submission proposals
  • Evaluate risk characteristics and determine alignment with underwriting guidelines
  • Effectively rate and price risks based on Business Unit rating guidelines and exposures
  • Prepare quotation, binder, and policy documents
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders/business partners
  • Utilize Business Unit technology (policy management system, 3rd party vendor software, etc.)
  • Engage in professional development through industry and organizational education and training
  • Analyze and rate endorsement requests
  • Ownership of key business functions (i.e.- inspections, systems, compliance, etc.):
  • Independently manage project/process
  • Identify & procure staff needed to execute
  • Ongoing management and improvement of function
  • Report project/process updates to senior leadership

  • Ability to utilize data and relevant information to assess risk
  • Competence in identifying key hazards within a risk
  • Ability to adhere to guidelines

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office & Excel

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 10+ years of industry experience
  • 5-10 years of industry experience in a similar role
  • 1-2 Industry specific accreditations (CRIS, ARM, PC license, CPCU, etc.

Salary Range: 130,000-160,000 USD per y ear
