The base salary range for a Training Specialist I is $43,000 to $63,000.  Actual salaries will vary by geographic location and are based on factors such as candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and competencies. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan based on company performance and individual performance.

Training Specialist I Overview

Responsible for designing or reengineering, developing, delivering, evaluating, and improving departmental training programs for USAble Life staff. This role requires effective collaboration with a wide range of individuals throughout the organization to design and deliver training to ensure employees grow and expand their knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to maximize business performance, meet operational goals and provide exceptional customer service.

Essential Duties:

  • Applies sound training and design methodologies to document and/or reengineer department processes and documentation to improve team performance and effectiveness
  • Partners with other departments and subject matter experts (SMEs) to understand training needs
  • Acquires task and role documentation (written and tacit), performs job shadowing to understand and document processes, and participates in process improvement initiatives
  • Co-develops process documents, job aids, and reference material in partnership
  • Designs or reengineers training materials to ensure content is accurate and so employees can perform their responsibilities professionally and efficiently
  • Ensures consistency of service orientation, training process, and outcomes
  • Conducts job specific new hire and on-going training, which includes product, process, and systems knowledge, including overarching concepts and applications
  • Works closely with quality audit team to understand where gaps in training may be leading to quality issues and identify additional training needs

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Possesses the capability to design, develop, and deliver various elements of role-specific training for new hires and reskilling initiatives
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and its practical application in a training environment
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and flexibility towards diverse adult learning styles, with the ability to facilitate learning and boost performance
  • Familiarity with various online learning platforms and systems
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, with intermediate skills in Excel and process mapping tools, including Visio
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized and proficient in time management with the ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities
  • Competent in the areas of facilitation and project management
  • Knowledge of insurance industry rules and regulations

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent related experience
  • 1 year of experience in developing and delivering training programs
  • Or, equivalent military experience

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Relevant Certification(s) may be desired
  • Experience in insurance industry
