Job Description:

Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a Director of Organizational Development and Programs to join our Human Resources Department.  This position is open to being remotely located with a strong preference being located near an Airbus facility or in or a commutable distance to Mobile, Alabama; Wichita, Kansas; Herndon, Virginia; Grand Prairie, Texas or Denver, Colorado. 

The Director of Organizational Development and Programs is a pivotal role within the North American Regional Center of Excellence for Talent, Learning, and Development. Reporting directly to the Head of Talent, the Director of OD & Programs will serve a dual role encompassing program management responsibilities as well as providing organizational development expertise to consult and lead organizational development projects that support HR and the business. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of organizational dynamics, and the ability to drive initiatives that enhance overall organizational effectiveness.

This position works closely with other members of the People & Organization Develop team, the greater Airbus Americas HR community, the Airbus North America and Latin America's business leaders, as well as the Global Leadership University, Competence and Workforce Community of Practice, Global Talent Executive Management team, HR Digital and the Learning and Knowledge Management Community of Practice and Learning and Development teams worldwide.

Your Challenges:

Organizational Development - Partnering, Consultation, Design & Delivery (50%)

  • Organizational Effectiveness: Conduct organizational assessments, diagnostics, and gap analysis to identify strengths, opportunities, and actions plan to improve organizational performance. 

  • Organizational Design: Apply sound methodology and rigor to lead organizational design processes to build effective operating models for matrixed and multinational teams. 

  • Team Effectiveness: Partner closely with key stakeholders (L&D, Talent Management, Culture & Engagement, etc.) to design and deliver workshops and solutions that support  team development needs across the NA region. 

  • Culture Enhancement: Partner closely with Culture & Engagement Leader to design and drive initiatives that foster a positive organizational culture, aligned with the company’s values and strategic objectives.

  • Change Management & Communications: Apply a change management lens to support transformation initiatives and to build adoptions strategies. Partner with Regional Change Management & Comms Partners as needed.

  • Talent & Leader Development: Collaborate with the Learning and Development team to provide an OD lens and partner on the design and implementation programs that enhance employee skills, leadership capabilities, and career development.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with senior leaders and key stakeholders to understand their needs and provide OD solutions that drive business results.

  • Organizational Capability Building: Partner with L&D, Talent Management, Competence and Workforce Development to build assessments, analysis, and gap-closure plans to bolster our talent bench strength.  

Program Management (45%)

  • Strategic Support & Planning: Act as a key advisor to the Head of Talent, providing external research and industry insights, completing internal needs assessment and discovery, and supporting design of strategic roadmaps

  • Operational Oversight: Drive program and project management rigor, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and efficient execution of programs.

  • Complex Project Management: Oversee and manage special projects and initiatives as directed by the Head of Talent, driving project management discipline, high quality deliverables, and performance tracking.

  • Portfolio Integration: Help the team establish an integrated portfolio of talent, learning, and development initiatives that align with organizational strategy and goals.

  • Ways-of-Working: Define and implement standardized ways-of-working across the team to ensure consistency, efficiency, and collaboration.

  • Communication Framework: Develop and implement a comprehensive communication framework to ensure clear, consistent, and effective communication within the team and with key stakeholders. Serve as a key integrator and point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, driving and facilitating effective communication and collaboration across COEs, HRBPs, Business Stakeholders, and global partners

  • Measurements and KPIs: Establish and maintain a set of measurements and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor the effectiveness and impact of talent, learning, and development initiatives.

Your Boarding Pass:

  • Master’s degree in Organizational Development, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in organizational development, talent management, and or learning & development. 

  • 10+ years of project management experience, requiring both formal and informal influence in a matrixed organization.

  • Seasoned in partnering with Senior Executives to perform needs assessment and developing outcome-oriented solutions to complex problems. 

  • Demonstrated ability in utilizing data to assess needs, partnering with people analytics and understanding themes and gaps, and establishing KPIs to measure organizational outcomes. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Onsite or remote: Fully remote opportunity or if near a location would be a hybrid capacity of 60%

  • Candidate should be comfortable working at a computer for extended periods of time in an office environment

  • Candidates should be able to attend relevant conventions and corporate outreach opportunities, which may occur outside on uneven surfaces and require overnight travel. 

  • Vision: Daily able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, presentations and reports. 

  • Hearing: Daily able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds including safety warnings or alarms. 

  • Speaking: Daily able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.

  • Equipment Operation: daily use of personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors. 

  • Carrying: Daily able to carry documents, tools, electronic equipment up to 10lbs. 

  • Sitting: Daily able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer. 

  • Travel: <25% of time able to travel independently and at short notice. 

  • Walking : Daily able to walk through office areas including uneven surfaces. 

  • Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site

Salary range:

Salary range based on the required profile: $173,000 - 200,000/year.  Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
