How You Will Contribute:
 

Ciena Corporation is seeking a skilled and experienced leader to oversee our logistics and trade compliance operations within the Service Operations team. The ideal candidate will have an extensive background in managing logistics operations, including warehousing, transportation, returns management, network design, and trade compliance. This includes expertise in government regulations, tariff classifications, risk mitigation strategies, and ensuring compliance with import/export laws, HTS codes, and valuation methodologies. This role will also focus on improving operational efficiency and customer satisfaction, with a strong proficiency in supplier management.

  • Oversee and manage third-party logistics partners responsible for transportation and warehousing operations, ensuring efficient and timely processing of outbound RMAs and defective units (customer returns).

  • Develop and implement logistics network strategies to optimize efficiency, reduce costs, and improve customer service and automation capabilities, while ensuring compliance with international trade laws and regulations.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate logistics with business systems or processes, such as customer sales, order management, accounting, and shipping.

  • Ensure compliance with trade regulations, including HTS codes, import/export licenses, valuation methodologies, and duty/tax mitigation strategies, by working closely with legal and compliance teams.

  • Support trade dispute resolution processes with government agencies and regulatory bodies, including assisting with the preparation of responses and documentation.

  • Create risk management programs to ensure supply continuity in emergency scenarios.

  • Communicate effectively with customers, sales, management, and other stakeholders regarding RMA logistics and trade compliance-related issues and improvements.

The Must Haves:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field.

  • Proven experience in supply chain / logistics management and network design, with a focus on RMA operations and trade compliance.

  • Strong understanding of trade compliance regulations, including tariff classifications, valuation methodologies, and global customs procedures.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to handle complex logistical and compliance challenges.

  • Effective communication, leadership, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across departments and regions.

  • Proficiency in logistics and supply chain software, with an understanding of trade compliance management systems; Oracle Global Trade Management (GTM) experience preferred.

Pay Range:

The annual pay range for this position is $84,700 - $135,300 USD

    Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
