The Director, Total Reward Partnering, Americas will be responsible for driving, enabling and advising on Lonza Group’s Compensation Strategy within the Americas region as well as certain Lonza Divisions Globally.

The role will require a deep understanding of compensation principles and global market trends, a strategic attitude to drive Lonza’s Total Reward agenda and have the ability to work together with and contribute to a global, high functioning and experienced Global Total Reward team!

The individual will collaborate closely with the Heads of HR for the Lonza Americas Sites as well as the global leadership teams, and other key collaborators to ensure compensation strategies align with strategic objectives and organizational culture!

Key responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for the execution of Lonza’s total reward strategy within the Americas region (over 5,000 employees) by directly partnering with Heads of HR and HRBPs on day to day people matters as well as more strategic site or division wide projects
  • Provide experienced advice to HRBPs and also help them navigate people challenges using the TR Global Governance and ensuring compensation strategies are tailored to meet the unique needs of different sites and locations while maintaining alignment with global policy
  • Provide education, support and communication tools for existing and new total rewards initiatives, policies and programs, coaching HR colleagues and Managers on underlying concepts and helping to embed the pay for performance culture
  • Be a guide and drive the US Pay Transparency agenda
  • Support compensation-related aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and organizational changes, ensuring smooth integration of compensation programs and alignment with the company’s global compensation structure
  • Be a strong advocate of all reward aspects, including policy, practices and program interpretation and communication, recommend reward solutions for talent attraction, motivation, reward and retention.
  • Be a strategic sounding board and reviewer for the Global Total Rewards Delivery Team, including cycle related activities, annual market benchmarking, the development of salary ranges and grading
  • Support local compliance with compensation-related regulations and laws in the Americas, including understanding and leading regional nuances in compensation practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Key requirements:

You bring a broad spectrum of knowledge to this position from your prior work in leadership roles. You have also led rewards and annual compensation benchmarking processes. You have uncommonly strong business insight, develop unquestioning and authentic relationships across lines of difference, and you are experienced at guiding and leading a rapidly growing and diverse workforce through exciting challenges and change.

The preferred candidate will have previous experience in leading a regional team in a fast-growing multinational company:

  • Confirmed depth of experience in Total Rewards, Project Management and HR Systems
  • Experience working independently and requiring little instruction on day-to-day work
  • Shown project management and project execution experience in a cross-functional and international environment
  • Demonstrate the ability to thrive in a dynamic and customer-focused setting by adapting to uncertainty and interpreting guidelines with flexibility. Drive business growth in alignment with Lonza's values and culture.
  • Experience working effectively within a complex matrix structured organization is important.
  • Good experience and understanding of leading sophisticated reporting relationships and incorporating multiple cultures

The full-time base annual salary for this remote position is expected to range between $164,000.00 and $270,000.00. Individual compensation will depend on a variety of factors, including but not limited to individual skills, qualifications, competencies, individual experience and expertise, job-related knowledge, and the availability of talent. Most roles in your job family will fall within the range provided.  In limited cases, there may be factors that could lead to an annual base salary outside of the typical expected salary range for your position.
