The Security Services team is dedicated to helping organizations design secure and efficient blockchain systems, encompassing a wide array of applications from decentralized exchanges (DEXs), smart contracts, and decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms to interchain connection protocols that enable seamless communication and interoperability between diverse blockchain networks. Informal Systems’ approaches combine manual code inspection with automated software analysis using our in-house formal verification and testing tools.
Informal Systems is a remote-first company with a presence in North America and Europe. We are structured as a worker’s cooperative, where important corporate actions are subject to one-person-one-vote democratic control by the member-employees.
About the Role
We are looking for a Sales Engineer to join our growing team, combining technical expertise with sales acumen to drive business growth. This role is pivotal in engaging with potential clients, understanding their blockchain security needs, and presenting tailored solutions through a combination of technical demonstrations, consultative selling, and thought leadership. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in blockchain technology, security auditing, and an ability to articulate complex technical solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
What your primary responsibilities will be:
- Develop and deliver tailored technical presentations and proposals, ensuring alignment with client requirements and showcasing the value proposition of our services.
- Collaborate closely with the sales team to qualify and understand client needs, demonstrating our blockchain security services and how they address specific customer challenges.
- Provide expert-level consultation to prospects and existing customers on our approach to delivering security best practices, vulnerabilities, and risk management in the blockchain space.
- Engage in technical discussions with key decision-makers, security experts, and blockchain architects to build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Work closely with the sales and engineering teams to provide technically sound project estimates and scope to ensure that client expectations are met and that proposals are technically sound.
- Help define product requirements based on client feedback, industry trends, and competitive analysis.
- Participate in blockchain and security industry events, webinars, and workshops to promote thought leadership and establish a company presence.
- Stay abreast of the latest trends, vulnerabilities, and advancements in blockchain security, and contribute to internal knowledge sharing and educational resources.
- Act as a trusted advisor, helping clients understand the evolving landscape of blockchain security and how our solutions can mitigate risks and enhance their security posture.
What we look for in a successful Sales Engineer:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Security, or a related technical field. Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) is a plus.
- Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in a technical sales, solutions engineering, or sales engineering role, with a strong focus on blockchain technology or cybersecurity.
- Proven track record in selling or supporting the sales of complex technical solutions, ideally in the blockchain, Web3, or cybersecurity industries.
- Deep understanding of blockchain technologies (Cosmos, Ethereum, Solana, etc.), smart contracts, decentralized finance (DeFi), and Web3 ecosystems.
- Familiarity with blockchain security auditing tools and methodologies, including static and dynamic code analysis, vulnerability assessments, and compliance frameworks.
- Knowledge of blockchain protocols and consensus mechanisms.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to turn project requirements and technical dependencies into scoping estimates.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, handling multiple client accounts and projects.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a consultative approach to sales.
- Passion for blockchain technology, security, and the broader Web3 ecosystem.
- Nice-to-Have:
- Experience in the DeFi, NFT, or crypto industries, with a deep understanding of related security challenges
