Description

Southeast Primary Care Partners is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Self-Pay Collections Specialist to join our team. As a Self-Pay Collections Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing the collection process for self-pay patients, ensuring timely and accurate payment for services rendered. Your primary focus will be on identifying, contacting, and facilitating the resolution of outstanding self-pay balances. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of our organization while delivering exceptional patient care.

Requirements

Self-Pay Account Management:

  • Monitor and analyze self-pay patient accounts to identify outstanding balances.
  • Communicate with patients via phone, email, and other appropriate channels to collect payments and resolve outstanding balances.
  • Establish payment arrangements and negotiate settlements with self-pay patients in accordance with organizational policies and guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all collection activities and patient interactions.

Financial Counseling:

  • Provide financial counseling and assistance to self-pay patients, offering guidance on available payment options, insurance coverage, and financial assistance programs.
  • Collaborate with patients to develop feasible payment plans and recommend suitable financing options.

Insurance Verification:

  • Verify insurance coverage and benefits for self-pay patients, when applicable.
  • Educate patients about insurance requirements and assist in the submission of necessary documentation for claim processing.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare regular reports on self-pay collection activities, including collection rates, payment trends, and outstanding balances.
  • Analyze collection data to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to enhance collection efficiency and effectiveness.

Customer Service:

  • Provide exceptional customer service to self-pay patients, addressing inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Collaborate with other departments and team members to ensure a seamless and positive patient experience.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience in self-pay collections or a similar role within the healthcare industry.
  • Strong knowledge of medical billing, insurance processes, and collection practices.
  • Familiarity with healthcare financial assistance programs and policies.
  • Proficient in using collection software and other relevant computer applications.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to empathize and interact effectively with patients.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Compliance-oriented mindset, with a strong understanding of privacy and confidentiality regulations in healthcare.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
