Your Role:
We seek a Senior Data Engineer with extensive technical expertise who excels in collaboration. This role requires designing, implementing, and refining data solutions that drive informed decision-making. Your contributions will be integral to achieving our mission of "zero untapped opportunity with data."
Our Data team owns the business intelligence that powers our organization. Their work is diverse, from crafting dashboards to directly engaging with stakeholders. We are looking for someone with a proven track record and a genuine passion for their work.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Things you will do:
- Analyzing and organizing data in different stages;
- Building and orchestrating data pipelines to deliver reliable data and products;
- Working with stakeholders from various perspectives to evaluate business needs;
- Building reports, visualizations and interpreting trends and patterns;
- Keep up to date on novel technical tools and concepts that we should adopt;
- Architecting a data pipeline for quality by defining and implementing data integrity tests;
- Along with the rest of the team, own and operate the data products that you built;
Required Qualifications:
Your background and skills include:
- Extensive experience working with distributed query engines using SQL;
- Experience in SQL composition frameworks like dbt or SQLMesh;
- Experience in Python;
- Designing and building data pipelines with reliability and operations in mind;
- Strong asynchronous communication skills with a remote team across time zones;
- Demonstrated initiative to stay abreast of technology advancements;
- A history of continuous growth and improvement;
We would be thrilled if you:
- Have previous experience working with data, data governance, and data regulation compliance;
- Have experience in workflow orchestration tools;
- Have contributed to a production-level code;
- Have experience in developing a fully managed cloud service;
- Have experience with integrating Business Intelligence tools;
Physical Requirements:
This role will be remote, based in Vancouver. There is no requirement to go to a physical office, though we may establish an office as we grow.
Travel Requirements:
Potential need for infrequent travel to Tokyo, Japan or Mountain View, California. Usually one week or less a year.
