Salesforce Test Engineer

Job Summary:

We are looking for a detail-oriented Salesforce Test Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role will be responsible for coordinating, planning, and executing tests for Salesforce applications and integrations. The Salesforce Test Engineer will work closely with development partners, business users, and stakeholders to ensure the highest quality releases, while also contributing to the development of test plans, automation strategies, and test case designs. The ideal candidate will have experience in Salesforce testing, automation, and driving quality assurance for multiple concurrent modules.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Test Coordination & Planning: Coordinate with development teams and business users to plan and schedule regression test events, ensuring that all necessary testing is completed on time and to specification.
  • Issue Tracking & Reporting: Track known issues, document errors, and report on any defects identified during testing. Work closely with development teams to ensure prompt resolution.
  • Test Automation Setup: Configure and set up necessary test automation software to streamline testing processes and improve efficiency.
  • Test Plans & Procedures Development: Create detailed test plans and test procedures based on product requirements, ensuring comprehensive test coverage and consistency across test cycles.
  • Collaboration with Business & Development Teams: Work closely with Business Analysts, Project Managers, and stakeholders to understand product specifics and develop corresponding test strategies that align with business needs.
  • Test Case & Script Design: Review existing test artifacts and design new test cases/scripts for upcoming releases, ensuring all new functionality is thoroughly tested.
  • Quality Control & Gates: Ensure the quality of Salesforce application development by establishing testing and automation control gates that prevent issues from moving through the pipeline.
  • Resource Estimation & Metrics Tracking: Assist in creating project resource estimates, defining metrics, and tracking progress, including defect reports, defect prevention efforts, and overall test coverage.
  • Test Plan Automation: Work through the backlog of test plan automation for multiple Salesforce modules that have transitioned from development to operations and maintenance, ensuring proper testing continues during the maintenance phase.
  • Quality Assurance Activities: Conduct comprehensive quality assurance activities to ensure the highest quality releases for Salesforce modules. Participate in continuous improvement efforts for testing processes and quality standards.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
    • 3+ years of experience in testing Salesforce applications, with strong familiarity with Salesforce development processes and deployment cycles.
    • Experience with test automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Provar and Eggplant) for Salesforce.
  • Skills & Expertise:
    • Strong understanding of Salesforce modules (e.g., Service Cloud, Health Cloud) and related business processes.
    • Experience in creating and executing manual and automated test cases, regression tests, and performance tests for Salesforce solutions.
    • Proficiency in test planning, test case development, and defect management.
    • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies and how they apply to testing within the Salesforce environment.
    • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving issues during testing.
    • Knowledge of tools like Jira, TestRail, or other test management software for tracking defects, test cases, and project metrics.
  • Preferred:
    • Salesforce certifications (e.g., Salesforce Certified Administrator, Salesforce Certified Platform App Builder).
    • Experience with continuous integration and continuous testing within Salesforce environments.
    • Familiarity with scripting languages and tools for test automation (e.g., JavaScript, Python).
    • Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., LoadRunner, JMeter) in the Salesforce context.
