Department: Operations – Services 

Reports To: RavenTek Program Manager

Location: Remote

Schedule: Monday – Friday 

Hours: Full-time, 40-hours/week

FLSA Status: Salary, Exempt

Position Summary


The Multi-Cloud & Storage Lead plays a critical role in architecting, implementing, and optimizing enterprise compute and storage solutions across Azure, AWS, and private cloud platforms. This position is responsible for developing and executing cloud compute and storage strategies, ensuring scalability, security, and high availability in hybrid and multi-cloud environments. The role involves assessing existing compute and storage infrastructures, designing modernization roadmaps, and leading migrations to enhance performance and efficiency. Acting as a bridge between business objectives and technical execution, the Multi-Cloud Compute & Storage Lead collaborates with development, architecture, and engineering teams to drive innovation and seamless integration of cloud compute and storage solutions. The performance of this position is key to RavenTek’s performance on our contract, and therefore RavenTek’s mission to support the customer.  


Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of multi-cloud compute and storage solutions across Azure, AWS, and private cloud platforms to ensure high availability, scalability, and security.
  • Identify and resolve issues within existing cloud compute and storage infrastructures to maintain operational efficiency and enhance system performance.
  • Develop and execute cloud compute and storage modernization roadmaps, including migrations and upgrades, to improve performance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Architect and deploy next-generation IT compute and storage solutions, ensuring seamless integration across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
  • Assess customer needs and align them with commercially available cloud storage, backup, and cybersecurity solutions to drive business objectives.
  • Develop and document cloud storage and data management requirements to support implementation by architecture, engineering, and development teams.
  • Act as a technical lead for cloud compute, storage, data protection, and multi-cloud infrastructure initiatives, providing expertise on best practices and emerging technologies.
  • Oversee security, compliance, and data governance measures within cloud compute and storage environments, ensuring alignment with industry regulations and organizational policies.
  • Support the ongoing operations and maintenance (O&M) of compute, storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions, optimizing for reliability and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to design and implement secure cloud compute and storage solutions, integrating encryption, access controls, and monitoring mechanisms.
  • Travel to the DMV area for work on-site at least 4 days a month.  
  • Enter actual time worked, once complete, at the end of the day, or no later than 10:00 a.m. the following workday, and submit timesheets at the end of each pay period. 
  • Provide Monthly Status Report (MSR) to the RavenTek Manager by the deadline provided.
  • Monitor and respond to RavenTek email a minimum of 3 times per week. 
  • Complete required compliance training as assigned. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Knowledge and Critical Skills 

  • Extensive expertise in multi-cloud architecture, compute, image, storage solutions, and data management across Azure, AWS, and hybrid environments.
  • Deep understanding of cloud compute and storage engineering principles, including the analysis, design, and implementation of scalable and secure storage solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud-based storage technologies, including object storage, block storage, file systems, backup, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud-based image management for Unix and Windows server operating systems.
  • Proficiency in identifying and resolving complex compute, storage, networking, and performance issues in multi-cloud and hybrid IT environments.
  • Familiarity with Unix and Windows server operating systems and their integration with cloud storage solutions.
  • Expertise in cloud security best practices, including encryption, access controls, compliance frameworks, and data protection strategies.

  • Familiarity with next-generation IT systems analysis and development, ensuring alignment with business and technical objectives. 
  • Strong understanding of commercially available cloud, storage, and cybersecurity products, with the ability to evaluate and implement the right solutions for business needs.
  • Awareness of industry best practices for cloud compute and storage modernization, migrations, system upgrades, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Experience in developing and documenting functional and technical compute and storage requirements to support architecture, engineering, and development teams.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate with stakeholders to drive storage and cloud compute infrastructure initiatives.

Education & Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 6+ years of experience in cloud engineering, storage engineering, and multi-cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or hybrid cloud).
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and optimizing cloud compute and storage solutions, including object storage, block storage, backup, and disaster recovery.
  • Experience leading multi-cloud compute and storage and data management initiatives, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
  • Hands-on experience with Unix and Windows server environments, particularly in storage integration, migration, and optimization.
  • Experience developing enhancement requirements and design specifications for IT infrastructure, cloud storage, and cybersecurity projects.

Certifications, Licenses

  • Associate-level Cloud certifications (e.g., Azure Network Engineer Associate (AZ-700) and AWS Cloud Practitioner) preferred. 
  • Information Technology certifications (e.g. CompTIA A+ CE, CompTIA Network+ CE, CompTIA, Security+ CE, CompTIA Linux+ CE). 

Special Requirements

  • Secret clearance required.

Work Environment


Employee will be working indoors in an office environment with other people. Potential moderate temperature fluctuations. Typical indoor and computer related noise level, and typical office, paper, and equipment related dust. Exposure to video display terminals occurs on a regular basis.

To successfully perform the essential functions of the job, the employee needs to be able to sit at a workstation for extended periods; use hand(s) to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; see to read printed materials and computer screens; mobility to work in a typical office setting. Ability to work on desktop or laptop computer for extended periods of time reading, reviewing/analyzing information, and may be required to provide recommendations, summaries and/or reports in written format. Must be able to effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing. Employee must be able to lift and/or move moderate amounts of weight, typically up to 20 pounds. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
