Position Overview

At Health Advocate, we are committed to advancing healthcare through innovative clinical research. As a Clinical Trial Enrollment Specialist, you will play a crucial role in identifying and enrolling eligible patients into clinical trials. You will work closely with research teams to ensure that patients understand the study protocols, consent processes, and the importance of their participation. This role is essential in supporting the development of new treatments and improving patient outcomes.

Essential Job Functions

  • Patient Identification: Review patient records and collaborate with clinical teams to identify potential candidates for ongoing clinical trials.

  • Enrollment Process: Guide patients through the enrollment process for clinical trials, including explaining the purpose of the study, eligibility criteria, and what participation entails.

  • Informed Consent: Assist in obtaining informed consent from patients, ensuring they fully understand the study protocols, risks, benefits, and their rights as participants. Utilize interpreter services as needed to ensure clear communication with patients do not have English as their home language.

  • Data Collection: Collect and record baseline health data and other relevant patient information as required by the clinical trial protocol.

  • Patient Education: Provide patients with educational materials and answer any questions they may have about the clinical trial process.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all patient interactions, consent forms, and data collection activities in compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Coordination: Work closely with the research team, including physicians, coordinators, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure smooth and timely enrollment and follow-up.

  • Compliance: Ensure that all activities are conducted in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Follow-Up: Conduct follow-up calls and visits with enrolled patients to monitor their progress and ensure compliance with study protocols.

  • Advocacy: Advocate for patients by ensuring they have access to all necessary information and support throughout their participation in the trial. Utilize interpreter services as needed to advocate effectively for patients who face language or communication challenges.

Team Interfaces/Customer Service

  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with internal/external customers, research teams, and department contacts.

  • Provide customer service that exceeds expectations by offering clear, compassionate communication and support to patients.

  • Treat all patients, team members, and department contacts with dignity and respect.

  • Escalate workflow and communication issues to supervisors as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Fluent in German

  • Experience: Minimum two years of clinical experience, with experience in clinical research or patient enrollment preferred.

  • Licensure: Active and unrestricted State LPN License.

  • Skills:

    • Strong understanding of clinical research processes and regulatory requirements.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex information in a patient-friendly manner.

    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with experience in electronic health record systems preferred.

  • Mental and Physical Requirements:

    • This position requires part-time availability, with a flexible schedule to accommodate patient enrollment needs.

    • The role involves a combination of desk work and patient interactions, requiring both sitting and standing throughout the workday.

    • Essential physical functions include fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions for using computer software/hardware.

    • Essential mental functions include concentration, reading, and verbal/written communication.
