Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Funding Programs Management (within the Strategic Operations & Support department), the Public Sector Partnership Program Manager (NHCP – Natural Heritage Conservation Program) position is mandated with ensuring successful delivery of the Natural Heritage Conservation Program. A core function of this position is to work collaboratively and supportively within the Funding Programs Management Team, and with Operations colleagues and other business units across NCC in order to leverage the NHCP program to support NCC’s 2022-2030 Strategic plan goals (i.e. Accelerate Conservation and Grow support).

Key Responsibilities

  • Grant administration, design, and implementation
  • Program tracking, auditing of expenditures, drafting/writing annual reports and work plans;
  • Recommending annual funding allocations internally and implementing strategies that support NCC’s Strategic Plan initiatives
  • Ensuring compliance with program parameters and conservation agreements
  • Liaising with internal and external partners, including Environment and Climate Change Canada’s Program staff and other program partners such as Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) and Wildlife Habitat Canada (WHC);
  • The delivery of other reports and ad-hoc requests related to funding program management, including providing support on other public-sector funding programs that may arise and assisting in the identification of other public sector funding opportunities and options.

Position Requirements

Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of MSExcel including pivot tables, filters, formulas, function and complex linked worksheets
  • Project management experience
  • People leadership experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Well-developed communication skills (written, verbal, and listening) exemplified by creating briefing notes, status reports and summary presentations.
  • Problem-solving and analysis skills, ability to make decisions, sound judgment and creativity
  • Proactive - able to anticipate and plan for future needs
  • Ability to foster good working relationships to achieve success
  • Willingness to work as a team towards a common goal; understanding of team dynamics, ability to compromise and contribute collaboratively
  • Working knowledge of databases and database management
  • Basic knowledge of accounting practices (reviewing financial statements)
  • Knowledge of conservation science, securement, stewardship, species at risk, and NCC practices and processes would be considered an asset
  • Experience working in NCC’s databases and applications (i.e., LRM, FE, RE) would be considered an asset
  • Fluency in French (both written and spoken) and experience working with PowerBi would be considered an asset

Experience Required

  • Post-secondary degree
  • Practical experience in a non-profit organization with particular emphasis on complex, inter-departmental funding administration, conservation data management, financial data management and analysis.
