Job Description:

Under general direction, represents the Thunderbird School of Global Management in activities which broaden the base of prospective students for the School’s graduate programs (e.g. Master of Global Management, Executive Masters of Global Management, the Executive Masters of Global Leadership and Strategy, and the Executive Master of Arts in Global Affairs and Management, Doctorate of Professional Practice). Thunderbird’s DC graduate program recruiter will be responsible for helping develop, lead, and implement innovative recruitment strategies to attract a diverse (e.g. racial, ethnic, gender, socioeconomic status, veteran’s, first generation, LGBTQ+) applicant pool. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Recruitment Outreach and in close consultation with additional key Thunderbird departments such as, Academics, Branding & Communications and Partnerships, this position will establish, enhance, manage, and evaluate strategic initiatives to achieve enrollment goals across all Thunderbird programs. The Recruiter will also qualify prospective students according to given program criteria and maintain communication with admitted students to retain interest in the programs until their cohort launches as well as generate and develop new student leads interested in enrolling in the programs via various lead generation activities.


Essential Duties:

  • Responsible to generate student leads interested in the three programs via various lead generation activities: B2B business development efforts, hosting in-person and virtual information sessions, scheduling and conducting face-to-face appointments, phone calls, and online communication channels to provide program benefits and admissions requirements.
  • Assists with targeted diversity recruitment: military, women, ethnic, geographic, etc. Primary roles to include: assists teams in diversity messaging and communication, creates email templates, assists admission with tracking applications, assists management with creating a follow-up plan to nature connections made events and tracks diverse prospects in campaigns through the admissions cycle.
  • Strategizes, plans and executes grassroot recruit efforts to promote all three executive degree programs, while building relationship and rapport with prospective students.
  • Maintains effective communication with prospective students regarding degree programs.
  • Manages prospective students by maintaining extensive contacts, monitoring application progress from start to completion, identifying and resolving problems.
  • Leverages Salesforce (CRM system) to track and monitor lead activity and application status. Collaborates with Operations team on end-of-cycle clean up, program audits, final program data collection.
  • Acts as School and program representative located at Thunderbird’s Washington D.C. Center of Excellence location.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of marketing/selling techniques; preferably in a higher education setting and with executive level graduate programs. ​
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current issues and trends in graduate management education and related admission practices.
  • Experience with student recruitment and graduate admission practices.
  • Knowledge of federal regulations pertaining to international students.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices related to academic advising, recruitment/retention, and/or other student support functions.
  • Experience developing and conducting group presentations targeted to diverse audiences.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining productive working relationships.
  • Experience in strategic planning and decision-making principles and procedures.
  • Experience in using organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience in creating brand awareness campaigns.


Working Environment:

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse.
  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Evidence of effective communication skills.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
