In this vital role you will manage the development and implementation of complex cross-functional business processes, process improvements and associated enabling initiatives across development and clinical operations. The role has a focus on effective change management while driving complex projects and programs that deliver measurable gain in cost, quality, and speed in a timely and efficient manner. You will lead efforts to improve and support innovation and process improvement capabilities and effectiveness, implement effective change management solutions to ensure sustainable gains are achieved and define and maintain departmental infrastructure and procedures/processes to ensure compliance of clinical operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Executing Change management plans and project management on large scale complex project and initiatives

  • Planning and executing complex projects and programs to meet agreed upon deliverables

  • Facilitating communication of information on project status, changes, and issues to team members and stakeholders(e.g. dept., heads)

  • Leveraging Amgen process improvements tools and methods

  • Developing the departmental resourcing and hiring plan to meet project demands*

  • Mentoring staff, ensuring staff development and awareness /standardization of standard operating procedures and best practices

  • Work with the project leads and GNL to identify and address how improvement initiatives affect processes and activities both up and down stream of its implementation

  • Drive knowledge sharing activities within and between networks

  • Take on business process owner role for key global network process(es) responsible for monitoring process health and taking action to ensure continuous improvement of process

  • Facilitate the creation of project plans including charters including well defined project objectives, success criteria, evaluation of project resource and budget needs, and perform risk/opportunity analysis as required

  • From a project level, manage the development and implementation of innovative business process improvement projects that deliver measurable gain in cost, quality and cycle time cross functionally

  • Coordinate with cross-functional support groups and adhere to standards (e.g. Ongoing Change Program R&D Standards)

  • Lead cross functional teams to develop and implement process improvements for R&D

  • Ensure projects are on time and on budget

  • Develop project plans including communication plans, stakeholder analysis, implementation plans and project schedules

  • Schedule and facilitate team meetings (including setting agendas, writing meeting minutes and tracking action items to ensure completion)

  • Work on abstract or complex problems requiring evaluation of intangible variables

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with development leaders to understand business objectives and priorities

  • Work with Clinical Metrics and Reporting function to define, maintain and communicate process improvement metrics as needed/appropriate

  • Develop oversight criteria and action plans with process owners

  • Identify process gaps root cause and generate creative solutions

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree & 2 years of project management experience OR

  • Master’s degree & 4 years of project management experience OR

  • Bachelor’s degree & 6 years of project management experience OR

  • Associate’s degree & 10 years of project management experience OR

  • High School diploma/GED & 12 years of project management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BA/BS/BSc in the sciences or business related

  • 9 years work experience in life sciences or medically related field, including 6 years of biopharmaceutical clinical product development (clinical research or clinical operations experience obtained at a biotech, pharmaceutical or CRO company)

  • Previous management experience of direct reports

Knowledge

  • Broad knowledge of systems development lifecycle

  • Specialist experience of change management project management, tools and processes (e.g.MS Project, PowerPoint, Visio)

  • Extensive clinical trial execution knowledge with understanding of other functions, including pre-clinical, clinical, development operations, and regulatory

  • Strong computer literacy, including word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet applications

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
