About the Role:

We are seeking a Senior Engineer to join the Partner Applied Solutions Team, combining technical expertise with a strong emphasis on collaboration and innovation. In this role, you will play a key part in building and scaling impactful partnerships by creating cutting-edge, co-engineered solutions for our partners.
You will work closely with engineering teams, partners, and key stakeholders to design solutions that drive the adoption of Confluent, including Kafka Connect, and more. Your responsibilities will span the entire lifecycle—from solution ideation and onboarding to ensuring operational excellence for our customers. Leveraging your expertise in cloud-native, large-scale distributed systems, you will ensure our platforms are industry-leading and optimised for success within the partner ecosystem.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of engineering, innovation and partner collaboration, with a background in roles such as Solution Architect, Solution Engineer or Professional Services. Above all, you are passionate about building scalable solutions that empower both Confluent and its partners to deliver exceptional experiences for our customers.

What You Will Do:

• Represent Confluent and articulate its value proposition to diverse audiences, including partner executives, technical leaders, and architects.
• Design and implement high-impact solutions that showcase the joint value propositions of Confluent and its partners, focusing on scalability, security, and developer self-service.
• Define, build, and deliver repeatable, automated solutions that improve partner enablement and engineering productivity.
• Collaborate across engineering teams and stakeholders to shape the roadmap for partner-driven technical initiatives.
• Advocate for partners by addressing technical concerns, including use cases, feature requests, and support issues, working internally to ensure resolution and alignment.
• Provide architectural guidance and recommendations for solutions spanning joint offerings, partner opportunities, and customer implementations.
• Partner with stakeholders to identify inefficiencies in services, enhance engineering productivity, and contribute to the broader architectural vision, balancing shared platform features with unique service needs.
• Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering their technical growth, enhancing their problem-solving skills, and ensuring best practices in solution design and implementation.

What You Will Bring:

• Demonstrated hands-on experience architecting complex enterprise solutions for customers and/or partners
• Experience with messaging, streaming, and ETL products commonly used in the enterprise
• Experience operating within and across cross-functional teams including product management, engineering, sales, marketing, etc
• Ability to quickly learn, understand, and work with new and emerging technologies, methodologies, and solutions
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems design and development
• Strong programming and algorithmic skills. Proficiency in a major programming language, e.g. Java, Go, Python, etc.

What Gives You an Edge:

• Demonstrated hands-on experience architecting complex enterprise solutions for customers and/or partners
• Knowledge of Apache Kafka and/or other streaming technologies
• Familiarity with software development and continuous integration tools (e.g Semaphore CI, Jenkins, etc.), and best practices to streamline and optimize all aspects of the development lifecycle
