Job description

Please Note: This is a Utah-based hybrid position which will require some regular in-office days each week. Additionally, employment with BambooHR is contingent on passing both a background and credit check.

Essential Job Duties

As an Associate Employee Relations Partner at BambooHR, you’ll play an important role in creating a workplace that upholds our values through processes and approaches that are compliant, transparent and balanced. You’ll support team members and people leaders in navigating a variety of employee relations situations, which might range from situational coaching to accommodations to performance to investigations.  Along the way, you’ll provide guidance and insight to people leaders and function as a trusted partner to cross-functional teams within the People organization and across the business.

Specifically, your work will center around the following areas:

  • Legal Compliance: You’ll stay up-to-date on evolving employment laws and regulations and ensure that the employee relations program remains in compliance, continuously improving as business needs change.
  • Policy and Procedure Creation: You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and update employee relations policies and procedures, in alignment with legal requirements and industry best practices.
  • Policy Application: You’ll ensure company policies and procedures are consistently interpreted and applied, and you’ll provide related guidance to leaders and team members.
  • Investigation: You’ll conduct objective and thorough investigations - including ensuring adherence to legal and ethical standards, documenting findings, and recommending appropriate corrective actions.
  • Conflict Resolution: You’ll address and resolve workplace conflicts, disputes, and grievances in a timely manner, balancing the needs of the organization, team members and leaders.
  • Employee Lifecycle Management: You’ll collaborate with leaders to provide guidance on performance improvement, and support separations as needed.
  • Employee Engagement: You’ll work closely with HRBPs and leadership to identify and address employee relations trends and concerns, developing action plans to solve root causes.

What You Need to Get the Job Done

  • Experience: You have 3+ years professional / HR experience, with at least 1 year of exposure to employee relations work.
  • Employment Law Knowledge: You have a strong foundational understanding of employment law best practices and have experience applying them in your daily work.
  • Confidentiality: You approach your work with the highest possible sense of confidentiality and discretion, allowing you to be entrusted with highly sensitive matters.
  • Integrity: You care a great deal about doing the right thing, and you inspire others to do the same - even when it’s difficult. You use that integrity to fuel how you provide thoughtful pressure testing to leaders and team members when needed.
  • Inquisitiveness: You have a knack for asking thoughtful and well-timed questions, and you look beneath the obvious when investigating important situations.
  • Critical Thinking: You’re a critical thinker who is well-practiced in thoroughly analyzing people situations and applying sound situational judgment
  • Conflict Resolution: You have experience with conflict resolution in a professional setting.
  • Detail Orientation: You have a keen eye for detail and have experience creating thorough documentation on people-related issues.

What Will Make Us REALLY Love You

  • Thoroughness: You tend to avoid assumptions like the plague. Instead, you exercise an abundance of caution and prefer to double- and triple-check yourself before taking major steps.
  • Pattern Matching: You tend to easily notice patterns and trends in your work and are proactive about using those patterns to improve systems and solve future problems.
  • Prioritization: When faced with multiple pressing tasks, you’re able to discern which ones are most critical.
  • Varied Past Environments: You have HR or professional experience in a variety of environments, including high-volume settings.
  • Passion: You find real fulfillment in employee relations work and are excited to build a long-term career in this field.
