This is a remote position. 

For over 89 years, we have worked to create trusting relationships with our fire family. The bonds we build are the foundation of our credit union. As the largest, exclusive firefighter credit union in the nation with over $2.0B in assets, we serve over 64,000 members in more than 1,000 fire departments. 

The Vice President, Business Services provides strategic leadership and program development to support the commercial banking needs of the membership. This role focuses on expanding and managing a diverse portfolio of business services through effective planning, implementation, and oversight. Business banking programs include deposits, lending, credit cards and ancillary services. The Vice President is also responsible for providing legendary service by creating differentiated solutions that will assist our members, fire stations, unions, and associations.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leading all aspects of the organization’s commercial relationships to ensure operational excellence, portfolio growth, increased deposits, and an exceptional member experience, while championing innovation and collaboration to drive financial performance, organizational growth, and legendary service.
  • Developing and monitoring all key financial performance metrics (loan growth, deposit growth, and net interest margin) as well as relationship management and NPS, to drive continuous improvement.
  • Streamlining processes and optimizing systems to enhance efficiency and deliver a seamless experience for employees and members.
  • Researching, implementing, and managing new lending systems, loan products and business banking services to meet member needs and drive growth.
  • Analyzing market trends, economic conditions, and the commercial market to prepare forecasts, set pricing strategies, and achieve financial targets.
  • Establishing and enforcing lending policies, underwriting standards, and risk management protocols to ensure portfolio quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Visiting fire stations, union events, and fire related conferences to foster relationships and absorb fire culture to ensure department alignment with the CU vision. 

 

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Regularly meeting with each team member to coach and mentor to ensure alignment around FFCU’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Providing team members with training, tools, and resources to successfully perform their jobs.
  • Holding teams accountable for meeting all service level agreements, ensuring the team’s work is accurate/efficient, and providing coaching, feedback, or training as needed.  
  • Providing and ensuring development opportunities are available for team members as part of their overall career path with the Credit Union.
  • Leading change by identifying opportunities that consistently raise the bar and improve service levels.
  • Assisting the Credit Union with executing the business plan of the organization.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Education:   Bachelor’s or higher degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience in one or more of the following:  commercial lending, guest relations, sales, customer service, account management or business banking.
  • Minimum eight years’ of progressively responsible experience in a financial institution leading commercial business services, including 2 years in a leadership role is required.
  • Minimum ten years’ experience originating business loans and business loan credit administration.
  • Minimum five years’ experience supervising or managing employees.
