Hi 👋 I'm Freddie, VP of Strategy + RevOps.
We're a high-growth, HR-tech start-up building and selling software that helps in-house recruitment teams attract, hire, and onboard the right talent. Today, we have a strong foundation in place, with a mature product, strong product-market fit, and happy customers.
Our RevOps team drives data operations at Pinpoint, wrangling data pipelines and models that power teams across the business. Over the past year, we've worked on internal and external product data to produce vital insights for the Customer Success team, assist in product decision-making, and inspire marketing content.
With our data responsibilities expanding and existing infrastructure requiring maintenance, we need someone to show us what "great" looks like—setting the standard for data at Pinpoint.
You'll ensure our pipelines are scalable and robust, all while creating new ways to analyze our data and derive insights.

FAQs
What is the current state of analytics engineering at Pinpoint? Will the successful applicant have to build everything from scratch?
Pinpoint already has several key dashboards and metrics created in Hubspot that need reviewing and improving. While reporting datasets in BigQuery have been initiated, they require management to ensure a standard structure and naming convention, making them more usable. The role will also involve building new pipelines, dashboards, and metrics based on organizational needs. You will not be starting from scratch but will need to focus on standardizing and improving the existing systems while building new capabilities as required.
Are people currently doing things in Excel, or are there legacy systems in place?
Pinpoint primarily uses modern data integration and analytics tools. FiveTran and Stitch are used to extract data from source systems into BigQuery, where data transformation is performed to create reporting views or views for ingestion into Hubspot. Hightouch is then used to feed this data into Hubspot. Reporting is typically done in either Hubspot or Looker Studio, depending on the specific use case. However, in some instances, spreadsheets might still be the most effective solution for specific problems. You will need to evaluate the best tool for each scenario and avoid over-engineering solutions.
What kind of reporting will the analytics engineer be producing? Is it mostly around sales and marketing figures?
The primary focus of this role will be to make product usage data accessible to Customer Success Managers (CSMs) for customer conversations and driving automated actions. This requires working end-to-end, from understanding source data with engineering teams to landing the data in BigQuery, transforming it, and feeding it back into Hubspot or Looker dashboards. Additionally, the role will involve providing insights for Marketing to highlight how product usage has delivered value and to identify emerging trends. A significant responsibility will be owning and managing the underlying data pipeline and transformation processes.
What tools and technologies does Pinpoint currently use for analytics?
Our cloud platform of choice is Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and it uses data integration tools such as FiveTran, Stitch, and Hightouch. Data transformation is managed within BigQuery and DataForm, while reporting is handled through Hubspot and Looker Studio.
What are the immediate priorities for this role?
The immediate priorities for this role include reviewing and improving existing dashboards and metrics in Hubspot, as well as standardizing and managing reporting datasets in BigQuery. You will also need to develop new data pipelines, dashboards, and metrics to meet evolving organizational needs. Ensuring that product usage data is easily accessible and actionable for both the Customer Success and Marketing teams will also be a critical focus area.
