Job Description:
Executive Claims Specialist – Environmental & Complex General Liability
Crum & Forster is looking for a self-starter who enjoys being a key part of a dynamic claims team. Manage an assigned pending of claims including environmental pollution claims, toxic tort, general liability bodily injury and property damage claims and/or professional liability claims under a variety of pollution insurance products and general liability policies, both primary and excess. Operate under appropriate levels of supervision and within established authority. The position will report to the assigned Manager and can be located in Morristown, Jersey City or remote.
What you will do:
- Receive environmental pollution, toxic tort, general liability, and/or professional liability claim assignments
- Verify and determine applicability of coverage
- Draft the appropriate coverage analysis letter in a timely manner
- Determine the level of investigation and vendor involvement necessary for each claim and assigns legal and/or non-legal vendors in accordance with company procedures
- Evaluate and manage both litigated and non-litigated claims, determine future course of handling and best method for early resolution
- Recognize significant exposures and effectuate the process for communication with our internal business partners and the establishment of appropriate claim reserves in a timely fashion
- Investigate risk transfer and/or recovery potential and is responsible for the development of the information required to be successfully in the pursuit
- Accountable for the equitable and prompt adjustment and management of assigned claims to disposition in accordance with company Best Practices
- Responsible for providing superior customer service to all brokers, insureds and others encountered during the claims handling process
What you will bring to C&F:
- At least 8 years of experience handling complex general liability and/or environmental pollution and/or toxic tort and/or professional liability claims under both pollution products and general liability policies
- College degree, Environmental Sciences background and/or law degree a plus
- Will abide by departmental policies and procedures, including authority levels, to comply with C&F’s risk management controls
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (writing sample required)
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of programs and the ability to learn in-house programs
- Some travel may be required

Salary ranges are available for all positions at this location, taking into account roles with a comparable level of responsibility and impact in the relevant labor market and these salary ranges are regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance with prevailing market conditions. The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $87,000 to a maximum of $130,000. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
