We are looking for an Environmental Technician with a minimum of 3 years of experience to join our Canadian Permitting and Compliance team in Sarnia.
This is a full-time position based in the Point Edward, Ontario office. The role will involve working both at client sites and in the office as needed, with partial remote work available. The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of projects with responsibilities as follows:
Calibrate and maintain air sampling equipment before and after field work.
Assist with ambient air sampling activities, including qualitative and quantitative industrial hygiene (IH), air sampling/monitoring, and noise surveys.
Provide data management and evaluation support to project managers in the areas of ambient air quality and industrial hygiene, including importing and exporting data from various equipment datalogging applications.
Utilize your knowledge of scientific disciplines to collect, synthesize, analyze, and report on data, and take appropriate actions under the direction of senior staff.
Perform all duties safely to minimize risks to yourself and others in environments with potential chemical, physical, biological, and safety hazards.
Compile, review, and summarize scientific and technical data, as well as relevant literature.
Understand and apply the basic concepts of relevant Federal and Provincial regulations.
Support other service areas as assigned, which may include creating source and emission inventories, conducting dispersion modeling for regulatory approvals or incidents, compiling Emission Summary and Dispersion Modeling (ESDM) reports, preparing Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) applications, and completing NPRI/GHG calculations and reports, under appropriate supervision.
Be available to work outside of standard hours on occasion (e.g., weekends or nights).
What We Are Looking For
Degree or diploma in Industrial Hygiene, Toxicology, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Environmental Technology, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in field measurements and assessments, with a focus on ambient air sampling.
Proven track record of working safely and in compliance with company and client safety standards.
Experience in other EHS disciplines, such as air emission inventories, air permitting, regulatory reporting, and safety/risk assessments, is an asset.
Expertise in Excel, with a focus on data analysis and QA/QC strategies.
Strong technical writing and communication skills, both oral and written.
Valid full G driver’s license.
Physical requirements: ability to work outdoors year-round, lift up to 40 lbs., climb ladders, and work at heights.
