Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior General Accountant to join our client’s dynamic finance team. This individual will play a key role in ensuring accurate and efficient financial operations, with a focus on revenue recognition, accounts receivable, and process improvement. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general accounting, particularly in revenue recognition, and experience in small business or consumer/retail accounting.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Resolve inquiries related to customer invoices, receivables, and third-party financing.
  • Generate customer invoices on a daily basis.
  • Process payroll, expense report reimbursements, and other disbursements, including wire transfers.
  • Assist with accounts receivable collection efforts.

Annual, Quarterly, and Monthly Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile relevant balance sheet accounts, including bank/cash, prepayments, deferred revenue, bad debt, credit card accounts, and equity accounts.
  • Reconcile revenue on a monthly basis to ensure alignment between financial systems and internal operational systems.
  • Journalize and consolidate all subsidiary accounts.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
  • File monthly and/or quarterly state compliance reporting.
  • Prepare and file 1099s and other annual compliance reporting.

Process Improvement Responsibilities:

  • Identify gaps in the current quote-to-cash and procure-to-pay cycles.
  • Develop recommendations to optimize accounting systems and procedures and detect inaccuracies.
  • Update documentation of new and existing business and accounting processes to ensure compliance with GAAP and SOX requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a general accountant, with a focus on revenue recognition and accounts receivable.
  • Experience in small business or consumer/retail accounting; experience in the medical or dental industry is a plus.
  • Familiarity with cost accounting and some financial planning.
  • Proficiency in general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
  • In-depth knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong understanding of financial accounting statements and business trends.
