rd party products. It’s a Core product to the growth of AI based experiences.

Core Experience Team is at the forefront of innovation with delivering engaging features that drive user growth and retention. To achieve this, the team uses state of the art experimentation platform and uses extensive A/B Experiments to deliver world class experiences. The team is looking at building the next state of the art Search Engine Results Page powered by Generative AI.

As Principal Software Engineering Manager, you will lead efforts and discussions for the architecture of various products and solutions. You will independently create and mentor others to develop a clear and articulated plan for testing and assuring the quality of solutions, defining success for the outcomes of tests. You will lead the identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for products, applications, services, or platforms. Additionally, you will create and apply metrics to drive the quality and stability of code, as well as appropriate coding patterns and best practices. You will hold accountability for the impact of build deployments on both users and other services. Your role will involve leading efforts to collect, classify, and analyze complex data and metrics. You will also identify internal tools and create new tools that will be useful for product development, determining if methods are still applicable for the current solution. Furthermore, you will demonstrate and maintain an up-to-date understanding of both global and local regulations for technologies and system applications to ensure compliance. Lastly, you will escalate situations internally to resolve complex blockers.

Responsibilities
- Coding: Leads debugging, code reviews, and ensures code quality by applying best practices and coding patterns. Mentors others to produce maintainable code and optimizes performance.
- Reliability and Supportability: Manages live service operations, resolves complex issues, and integrates telemetry for system monitoring. Develops playbooks for incident resolution and ensures SLA adherence.
- Engineering Excellence: Drives automation, develops tools, and ensures compliance with security and privacy standards. Stays current with new trends and technologies, sharing knowledge with the team.
- Implement: Oversees deployment processes, plans projects, and conducts experiments to improve product effectiveness. Breaks down long-term vision into actionable milestones and ensures safe deployments.
- Design: Creates design documents, develops system architecture, and leads testing to ensure reliability and performance. Coordinates with other teams to manage dependencies and optimize solutions.
- Understand User Requirements: Gathers user feedback through various channels and incorporates insights into future designs. Defines critical metrics for measuring customer value and improves user experience.
- Manage Team: Lead a team of engineers. Drive clarity and deliver results while investing in growth of the team and its members. Demonstrate Model, Coach and Care
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 6+ years people management experience.
Other Requirements
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to the success of others, as a leader in the team you will be expected to mentor and manage developers.
- Solid technical abilities, problem solving, design, rapid prototyping, coding and debugging skills.
- Good communication skills and a track record of cross-group/cross-discipline collaboration.
- Team player with a positive attitude.
- Excellent collaboration skills and ability to be adaptable and agile in development
- Demonstrated experience as a technical lead or people manager.
Software Engineering M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $161,600 - $286,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $209,600 - $314,400 per year.
