Job description

What's the role?:

The candidate will participate in all stages of software development, including software design, coding, testing, release and support. This individual will follow a software development process and be accountable for conformance to software quality standards, including the creation and execution of unit test plans. They will also work collaboratively with other engineering teams to ensure cross-functional goals are met. 

  • Develop, test and deploy software components
  • Investigate and correct software and system defects
  • Learn new technologies and programming languages
  • Create and maintain configurations and scripts for software releases
  • Participate in agile planning sessions with teammates and stakeholders 
Who are you?:

 

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/IT or comparable field

  • 2+ years of software design and development experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of algorithms and data structures. 
  • Understanding of both functional and object-oriented programming
  • Experience writing code in Scala is a strong plus
  • Proficiency in Java 8 and Java EE technologies
  • Strong problem-solving skills and comprehension of basic test methodologies
  • Familiarity with common build tools (e.g. Agile, Maven, CI/CD - Jenkins and GitLab)
  • Knowledge of cloud-computing services, especially Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Ability to write scripts in Python, Ruby or Unix/Linux shell scripting (Bash)
  • Exposure to containerized software solutions, especially Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB and Redis
  • Proficiency with big-data technologies like Spark, Hadoop M/R, Hive or Pig is a plus
