Job Summary
Responsible for the analytical work in regards to Small Business Administration (SBA) loan applications, consistently underwriting safe and sound SBA loans that are in compliance with SBA & SBB underwriting standards.
Responsibilities
- Conducts research and analysis of routine financial, tax, and credit document to determine the credit worthiness of applications and set appropriate limits based on current policy.
- Prepares financial statement spreads using financial documents, comparing to industry trends in order to evaluate the credit relationship and capacity to repay the entities or individuals debt.
- Reviews potential SBA loans on qualification.
- Analyzes credit requests to ensure they are in compliance with SBA eligibility and underwriting guidelines.
- Ensures cash flow analysis is consistently calculated, supported, documented, and appropriate notes provided.
- Attends SBA seminars as needed to stay up to date with the SBA SOP.
- Exhibits knowledge on Small Business Administration loan policy and stays current on any changes within policy along with SBA reporting information.
- Submits approved SBA/SBB loans into E-Tran.
- Prepares documentation for SBA Loan Reviews (annual loan reviews for the SBA and hired firms).
- Submits SBA Guaranty Forms – collecting on guaranty and liquidation process.
- Collaborates and communicates with all parties including loan processing team and loan operations team.
- Participates in a team effort to cross-sell bank and affiliate products and services.
- Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Management, Accounting or related field.
- Extensive experience in SBA banking environment, minimum of five years of SBA and commercial credit underwriting experience.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, with customers and co-workers.
- Aptitude for completing project, individual, and company financial statement analysis using software and financial documentation, including E-Tran.
- Aptitude for preparing narrative analysis of financial ratios and trends.
- Must have a high proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to navigate databases.
- Must possess and maintain current and valid driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage.
- Ability to travel throughout our market for various meetings and appointments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous SBA & Commercial Credit underwriting and compliance experience for a bank, credit union, or related industry experience.
