This position will be responsible for the resolution of low complexity and low exposure claims and provide support to other team members as directed. This position collaborates with the claims team and receives assignments from their direct supervisor. This role makes appropriate decisions within own authority and makes thoughtful recommendations when outside authority level. This position adheres to Fair Claims Practices regulations.

Summary:

This position will be responsible for the resolution of low complexity and low exposure claims and provide support to other team members as directed.  This position collaborates with the claims team and receives assignments from their direct supervisor.  This role makes appropriate decisions within own authority and makes thoughtful recommendations when outside authority level. Responsibilities

  • Confirms coverage of personal property claims by reviewing policies and documents submitted in support of claims. Analyzes coverage and communicates coverage positions.
  • Conducts, coordinates, and directs investigation into loss facts and extent of damages.
  • Evaluates information on coverage, liability, and damages to determine the extent of insured's exposure.
  • Sets reserves within authority or makes claim recommendations concerning reserve changes to manager.
  • Maintains accurate system data and documentation by collecting, recording, analyzing and summarizing information.
  • Negotiates and settles claims either directly or indirectly  
  • Prepares reports by collecting and summarizing information
  • Identifies subrogation opportunities and fraud potential and makes appropriate referrals
  • Strong emphasis on customer service to both internal and external customers is a major focus for this role particularly as it relates to service to our insureds.
  • Participates in special projects or assists other team members as requested
  • May be asked to take on higher complexity claims as needed

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in the insurance industry

 

Certification

  • Must be eligible to receive claims adjuster license
  • Successful completion of basic insurance courses or achievement of industry designations

 

Work Experience

  • Knowledge of insurance industry or claims handling preferred, or
  • Successful completion of 2 years as a Claims Technician or in another industry support role

Pay information:

The base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors. The national average salary for the Associate Claims Specialist is $23.64 - $30.62 per hour with 10% bonus potential.
