About the role
We’re looking for an Underwriting Assistant, Surety, for our growing National Commercial Lines team!
What you’ll do here:
Distribute department correspondence.
Order reports and references as directed by underwriters.
Enter data into underwriting and billing systems.
Perform all word processing tasks relating to contractual coverage, including the preparation of policies, renewals, endorsements, legal documents and correspondence.
Establish and maintain good relations with insurance brokers.
Communicate with surety bond end users regarding contract and project status.
Review incoming bonds issued by brokers for compliance, accuracy and completeness.
Review surety clerical audits, respond as needed and make any necessary corrections and recommendations.
Calculate premiums for new supplementary premiums, return premiums and new business.
What you bring to the table:
High school diploma or higher with up to two years of experience.
Ability to enter data rapidly and accurately.
Good oral and written communication skills, ability to be work as part of a team.
Problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to make decisions and work independently.
Strong organizational skills for effective workflow management without continuous supervision.
Computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft software.
Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines.
Although no Canadian work experience is required, you must have authorization to work in Canada.
Bilingualism (French-English) is required. Need to interact with colleagues across the country on a regular basis.
