Job description

Job Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Software Development Project Manager/Product Owner to spearhead our development team dedicated to the COSMIC software application. The COSMIC application plays a crucial role in tracking Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) at NASA’s Johnson Space Center (JSC). The successful candidate will possess a strong background in overseeing intricate, work order-oriented processes and will have practical experience with Agile project management methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

As the Project Manager/Product Owner for COSMIC, you will:

  • Lead and direct the COSMIC development team in providing enhancements and solutions for NASA and GFE tracking at JSC.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between internal teams and external stakeholders, including NASA and other prime contractors.
  • Collaborate extensively with NASA/JSC customers to gather requirements, manage expectations, and provide updates on project status.
  • Convert high-level customer requirements into comprehensive Epics and Issues for the development team to execute.
  • Oversee the daily operations and team priorities in an Agile project management context.
  • Ensure effective adherence to project goals, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Prepare and deliver project updates to internal leadership and NASA management.
  • Participate in regular on-site meetings at Johnson Space Center as necessary.
  • Act as a quality control check for the project internally.
  • Manage project scope and adapt to changes as they occur.
  • Engage in weekly management meetings with the client to discuss updates, challenges, and future planning.
  • Report on project success criteria, metrics, testing, and deployment management activities.
  • Provide clear status updates concerning project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks, and issues to both the client and internal leadership.
  • Occasionally attend meetings at JSC in Houston, TX, while retaining the flexibility to work remotely.

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and work order-driven processes.
  • Experience with GitLab for managing projects.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting effectively to high-level stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based software development processes is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead a fully remote team.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed.
  • Experience deploying cloud-native solutions on GCP (preferred) and/or AWS.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in product or project management roles, especially within software development.
  • Preferred experience working with NASA or government contracting.
