Job description

Cybercrime is rising, reaching record highs in 2023. According to the FBI's IC3 report total losses exceeded $12 billion. With investment fraud and BEC scams at the forefront, the message is clear: the real estate sector remains a lucrative target for cybercriminals. At CertifID, we take this threat seriously and provide a secure platform that verifies the identities of parties involved in transactions, authenticates wire transfer instructions, and detects potential fraud attempts. Our technology is designed to mitigate risks and ensure that every transaction is conducted with confidence and peace of mind.

We know we couldn’t take on this challenge without our incredible team. We have been recognized as one of the Best Startups to Work for in Austin, made the Inc. 5000 list, and won Best Culture by Purpose Jobs in 2023. We offer a dynamic work environment where you can contribute to meaningful impact and be part of a team dedicated to enhancing security and fighting fraud.

We are seeking a talented and experienced Software Engineer - Data, who will focus on our data engineering and implementation. The right person will have a strong background in software engineering to design, build, and optimize data pipelines that support our cutting-edge fraud detection products. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product engineers, data scientists, and fraud prevention experts, to drive product innovation, enhance data integrity, and ensure the scalability of our data infrastructure.

Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines that collect, process, and store data from a variety of sources.
- Collaborate closely with product engineers and data scientists to create data-driven solutions for fraud prevention and product enhancements.
- Ensure the quality, consistency, and accuracy of our data through monitoring, observability, and validation strategies.
- Manage the internal connectivity of backend tools, APIs, and pipelines to build core data models used in fraud detection.
- Research, architect, and deploy new infrastructure and tooling to meet the evolving needs of our data platform, while addressing tech debt where necessary.

Qualifications:
- Although not a strict requirement, candidates for this position will usually have 4+ years of experience in data engineering, infrastructure/cloud engineering, or backend software engineering.
- Strong experience with modern ELT tools like Fivetran & DBT or similar frameworks for building performant data pipelines.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and hands-on experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL/document databases (e.g., MongoDB).
- Demonstrated expertise in Python for data engineering and data science applications.
- Experience with data platforms, DAGs, semantic layers, and modern data architecture concepts.

Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Jupyter Notebooks, or specifically Hex.tech for data analysis and visualization.
- Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, or C# is a plus.
